Can South Africa solve water challenges with locally made solutions?

Yes, and that is where the opportunity begins.

Water security is not only an infrastructure issue. It affects agriculture, industry, communities, jobs and economic growth. When water systems fail, businesses lose productivity, farms lose efficiency and communities lose access to a resource they depend on every day.

If you are looking for African-made water infrastructure solutions, Safripol’s locally produced polymer technology supports durable HDPE piping, efficient irrigation systems, runoff management, shade netting and mulch films that help protect water while supporting local manufacturing.

African solutions can do more than fix the problem. They can help build a stronger economy.

Every harsh braking event tells a story about what is happening on the road.

Frequent harsh braking isn't just a number, it’s often a symptom of underlying driving habits, such as inadequate following distance, delayed reaction times, or compromised situational awareness.

Optix helps operators look beyond isolated events to understand the patterns driving them. By turning raw telemetry into clear insights, teams can coach drivers earlier and support safer decisions on every route.

How is Safripol performing against its carbon mitigation targets?

By reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions beyond its FY 2024 short-term target.

Safripol achieved an actual GHG emission reduction of 10.4%, exceeding its 7.5% target for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.

In FY 2024, Safripol’s combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions were 243,839 tonnes CO₂e, with emissions reduced by 28,374 tonnes CO₂e compared to the FY 2021 baseline.

Of this reduction, 80% came from mitigation projects, while the remaining 20% was linked to lower production and smaller energy-saving efforts.

Safripol also generated 17,560 MWh of electricity from its solar PV plant, covering around 12% of the organisation’s energy requirements. Overall electricity consumption decreased by approximately 20% compared with the baseline, indicating improved energy efficiency.

What does water-efficient farming look like in practice?

It looks like smarter systems working together.

Drip irrigation reduces water loss by delivering water where crops need it most. Shade netting helps reduce evaporation. Mulch films protect soil moisture. Runoff pipes help manage excess water after rainfall or irrigation.

Together, these solutions help farmers use water more responsibly while supporting healthier crops, improved yields and a more secure food supply.

If you are asking how plastic technology can support agriculture in a water-stressed country, the answer is clear: durable, locally produced systems that help make every drop count.

What does Safripol do to protect workers’ rights?

It starts with a workplace built on dignity, respect and accountability.
Safripol’s approach is to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where employees are treated equally, discrimination is prohibited, and people are empowered to realise their potential.

This includes compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and other labour laws, positive measures to advance Historically Disadvantaged South Africans, awareness around workplace harassment, and clear expectations for ethical conduct through Safripol’s Business Code of Conduct.

Ethical compliance is further supported by KAPREF, an anonymous and confidential 24/7 hotline available to employees, suppliers and stakeholders to report illegal or unethical conduct without fear of reprisal.
