Little Paws Big Hearts

A Warm Thank You from Little Paws Big Hearts

A heartfelt thank you to Inus out very kind individual, who donated 40 kg of dog food to help us care for the animals in need.

Your generosity means so much to us. Every bag of food helps fill hungry tummies and brings comfort to dogs who depend on our outreach for survival.

With so many animals needing our help across six townships, every donation makes a real difference.

Thank you for caring, for giving, and for being part of our mission. Together, we can make a difference, one bowl at a time!

LITTLE PAWS BIG HEARTS – DOG FOOD DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED!

52 MORE DOGS NEED OUR HELP!

Our work never stops. As we continue helping animals across 6 townships, we are also trying to assist in Kriel, where the situation is becoming increasingly heartbreaking.

Dogs wandering the streets.
Cats that have not been sterilised.
Tiny puppies walking on the main road, exposed to danger every single day.

Without a shelter this is a huge challenge and we need you to support us in helping the animals.

The need is growing, and we are doing everything we can, together with caring animal lovers in the community, to make a difference.

But we cannot do this alone.

Our Donation box is at JB Feeds & Seeds in Kriel. Support local, and companies like Reinhardt that supports our Animal welfare organisation.

We issue article 18A Tax certificates for your precious donations.

WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES!

Some children walk into school with shiny new shoes. Others walk in with shoes that are too small, worn out, falling apart… or sometimes, no proper school shoes at all.

And no, children shouldn't have to put their best foot forward with their toes sticking out!
School shoes are not a luxury. They are a necessity.

Every child deserves to walk into the classroom with dignity, confidence and shoes that fit.
We want to help change that, but we cannot do it alone!

Do you have school shoes your children have outgrown?

A pair sitting forgotten in your cupboard?

Shoes that are still in good condition but no longer needed?

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU
TO OUR LOCAL Uber Mom Service

Sometimes, the kindness of a stranger becomes the helping hand we desperately need.

Uber Mom from Secunda is a local transport business that helps people get where they need to be — whether it is travelling to Durban to catch a bus or getting to the airport to fly to Cape Town.

But last night, something very special happened.

We put out a request for help, not knowing whether it would even be possible. Three tiny kittens needed safe transport to Secunda, and we desperately needed someone to help us get them home safely.

Thank you for the transport of our 3 babies and still smiling so late at night handing them over to us.

Please support our local businesses, that supports animal welfare and Little Paws Big Hearts

A TORN PIECE OF PAPER

A LITTLE NOTE FROM OUR TOWNSHIPS… A BIG REASON TO STERILISE

Today, we received a little handwritten plea from someone asking for help for a dog who is pregnant and struggling. A simple note, but behind those words lies a reality we see every day in our townships.

“Can you help me? My dog is pregnant. It gives me trouble. Please help me…”

These words remind us why Little Paws Big Hearts keeps going, township after township, day after day.

In our townships, there are loving people who care deeply about their animals but simply do not have the money to pay for veterinary services. When their female dog or cat becomes pregnant, they often have nowhere to turn.
And so another litter is born.

Sometimes the puppies and kittens find homes. Sometimes they are given away to anyone willing to take them. And sometimes they end up abandoned, hungry, sick or fighting for survival on the streets.

This is the heartbreaking cycle we are trying to break.

Our outreach teams work in six townships, where thousands of animals need help, care and protection.

We provide food, parasite control, education and assistance wherever we can. But we cannot do it alone.

STERILISATION IS NOT A LUXURY. IT IS A NECESSITY.

One sponsored sterilisation can prevent unwanted litters, reduce suffering and give an animal a healthier life.

THE WORD HAS CHANGED, BUT HAS THE PRACTICE?

People used to advertise animals on social media as “Puppies for sale,” “Kittens for sale,” “Birds for sale” or even “Looking to buy.”

Today, many advertisements use different words: ADOPTION or REHOMING.

But has the situation really changed, or have the words simply changed?

Changing the wording does not automatically make it animal welfare.

Responsible animal adoption and rehoming must put the animal's welfare first.

Always verify the organisation's registration, credentials and adoption procedures before handing over money or an animal. In South Africa, not every person advertising an animal for adoption is automatically a registered animal welfare organisation.

HAVE YOU EVER ASKED YOURSELF WHY THERE ARE BREED RESCUE ORGANISATIONS FOR ALMOST EVERY TYPE OF ANIMAL?
