Bezonder Jewellery for unique people. Passionate about design and sustainability. But this was not for an extended vacation, no!

Bezonder is the realisation of a dream; A dream that started with its founder, Johandi Ebersohn's first arrival in the beautifully set town of Stellenbosch. She arrived to study Jewellery Design and Manufacture at the University of Stellenbosch. Within her first week, she made up her mind: This was where she was going to stay and spread her creativity by making jewellery. Her instant infatuation with the breathtaking scenery, grew into a deeper love for this melting pot of people and history, shaping South African culture. The word bezonder is a German/Dutch word that usually describes an item or event. It means: Peculiar, special, extraordinary, exceptional, outstanding, remarkable, even unexpected. Bezonder is what the designer strives for:
"I want people to look at my work and say this is bezonder". Bezonder Jewellery Design and Manufacturing Studio, is set in the heart of the w**e lands in the town of Stellenbosch, South Africa. The owner is Johandi Ebersohn (Designer and manufacturer). Jewellery design is her "first love" and she focuses on silver jewellery exclusively. She is dedicated to creating pieces that are cutting edge, creative, contemporary and of the highest quality, yet very wearable and affordable. Her passion is to creative something different, artistic and special for every person and occasion. All pieces, both cast and hand wrought are made of sterling silver, precious and semi-precious gems, and more unusual materials such as LEGO blocks and Perspex. Bezonder specializes in handmade silver jewellery. The owner creates unique and creative jewellery, sometimes the pieces are made out of a special jewellery wax or clay first and then cast. She hopes to portray her passion and love for nature, art and all things special, precious and pretty, in her work and designs. The unique designs are mostly manufactured in sterling silver but can be done in any other metal on request.

Every piece is made by hand in my studio, with the quirks and individuality that come with handmade work.

Yesterday was a day of fear, worry and heartbreak.

We had to say goodbye to Bodi, and we have now laid him to rest. He is close by, and that brings me some comfort. ❤️

The good news is that Guinness is doing much better and is eating again. I am so incredibly grateful for that after such a frightening weekend.

It has been an emotional few days, and I am taking things one moment at a time. Thank you to everyone who has checked in and kept us in your thoughts and prayers. It means more than you know.

Bezonder Birthday Sale | Pearls & Sterling Silver

Please have a look at some of the stock I have already posted as well.

Today I'm sharing my high lustre, white AA grade freshwater pearls paired with sterling silver in a variety of designs. The exception is the first pair, which isn't AA grade, just a pretty pair for everyday wear.

The gold pair is gold plated sterling silver.

Round, button, baroque, coin and potato pearls. Each pair has its own character, with some very special pearls hand picked by me for a beautiful pair of earrings.

If you see something you like, please send me a DM and I'll reply with my number so we can chat.

The saying goes, the show must go on.

After a rather stressful weekend with Guinness and an emergency after-hours vet visit, I'm continuing with my birthday sale. ❤️ The money from these sales will help cover his emergency vet bill.

Thank you for supporting my little handmade business, sharing my work and helping me through a difficult weekend. It means more than you know.

My Sunday has turned into emergency vet visits, worry and absolute chaos.

Two of the resident dogs are at the vet. Guinness seems okay so far, but Bodi is not doing well.

Not exactly the Sunday you want when you're looking after someone else's dog and they accidentally eat snail poison. 💔

Right now, Guinness is sitting on my lap while I sit on the floor with him. It seems to help him feel a little calmer and more relaxed, so this is where we're staying for now. ❤️

I'm hoping and praying for a miracle.

Unexpected vet bills are not something a small handmade business plans for, so I'm putting this out there with a little vulnerability.

If you've had your eye on something from Bezonder, this would be a wonderful time to make it yours. Every sale helps with the vet bills, and your support means more than you know.

Thank you for supporting my little handmade business, especially on a day when life feels a little overwhelming.

My oxygen ran out last Monday!

I'm standing next to the bottle for reference. It's pretty much my size! 😂 Not exactly something I can pick up and change myself.

As a goldsmith, I use oxygen mixed with gas in my torch to create a hot flame for soldering gold and silver, annealing metal to make it softer and melting metal when needed.

No oxygen means some pretty important parts of my jewellery making have to come to a standstill.

It took a week and a half to get it replaced, but luckily it's all sorted now and I'm back at my bench, ready to make again!

These stitch markers/tags are just R15 each (normally R40).

Why the discount? Life happens. 😅 I didn't want them to go to waste, and unlike silver, aluminium can't simply be melted down and recast.

They're not quite up to my usual standard because I was trying out a new stamp, didn't stamp hard enough, a blank shifted, ordered the wrong size...the list goes on!

But I've cleaned, smoothed and polished them. Still perfectly usable, just with a few minor imperfections and a little extra character. 😊

They're the perfect little add-on to any order and plenty to go around!

Part of my birthday stock special:

Spend R1500 or more and get R250 off, plus free Pudo locker-to-locker delivery within South Africa.
