As we celebrate 70 years of service to the retirement fund industry, we reflect on a legacy built on experience and driven by a responsibility to deliver meaningful outcomes for our members.
In the years leading up to this milestone, we embarked on a deliberate journey of transformation. Working alongside our team of experts and valued partners, we took a closer look at our systems, processes and the evolving needs of the retirement fund industry.
Our ambition was never simply to adopt technology. It was to harness its potential to address real challenges, improve the member experience and develop solutions that respond to the needs of today while anticipating those of tomorrow.
For us, innovation has a clear purpose which is to make retirement fund administration more accessible, efficient and responsive, while ensuring that the people we serve remain at the heart of every decision.
We undertook this journey with a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our members. To have this work recognised beyond our borders is an honour that makes this milestone year even more special.
Last week at the Africa Pension Technology and Digital Innovation Awards, Salt EB was honoured to receive nominations in three categories:

Best Member Engagement / UX Initiative
Best Digital Pension Administrator of the Year
And the evening brought an exceptional moment of pride as Salt EB received the:

This recognition is a meaningful affirmation of the dedication of our people and our continued commitment to advancing retirement fund administration through purposeful innovation and member-centred solutions.
As we celebrate seven decades of experience, we remain focused on continually evolving to serve our members better and building on a legacy that has stood the test of time.

Day 2 | APT2026 | Mombasa, Kenya
Day 2 of the 5th Africa Pension Technology and Digital Innovation Conference, Charles Machira, CEO of the Retirement Benefits Authority, delivered a keynote emphasising on the importance of technology that serves members. Digital platforms must be accessible, easy to navigate and designed to provide members with accurate, reliable information. Members should also be empowered to access and verify their own information with confidence.
As the Gold Sponsor, our CXO, Nazlie Seegers, took to the stage to demonstrate how Salt Employee Benefits is translating this principle into practice.
Through our digital solutions, members have 24/7 access to their retirement information, enabling them to stay informed, track their retirement savings and engage with their benefits wherever they are.
Technology cannot be treated as an afterthought in the retirement industry. It must be embedded into how we understand, serve and empower members.
At Salt EB, we believe the future of retirement administration is not simply about adopting new technology. It is about using technology with purpose, accessibility and the member at the centre.

Leading the conversation at the 5th Annual Africa Pension Technology & Digital Innovation Conference (APT2026) in Mombasa, Kenya.
Day 1’s Masterclass explored the role of technology in transforming the member experience.
Our Chief Experience Officer, Nazlie Seegers, led a thought-provoking discussion by asking a fundamental question: Does the technology adopted by financial institutions actually work for the members who use it?
One of the key discussions focused on member portals and an important distinction:
Is a portal simply a window, or is it a journey?
A portal may provide access to information, but true digital innovation should go further. Technology should help members navigate their retirement journey, solve real problems and make it easier for them to engage with their benefits.
As Nazlie highlighted, systems should be designed around member problems, not simply with the intention of making systems look good.
At Salt Employee Benefits, we believe technology should ultimately serve a purpose of creating simpler, more meaningful and more accessible experiences for members.

As we prepare to participate in the 5th Annual Africa Pension Technology & Digital Innovation Conference (APT2026), our team has completed the required vaccinations in line with South African health regulations for international travel.

As the day continues at the COSATU Congress, we are delighted to reconnect with familiar faces while also having the opportunity to engage with members from different sectors.
