Your outside bin may be inviting more visitors than you realise. 😬

A slightly open lid, food residue and rubbish buildup can attract:
• flies
• ants
• rodents

And once a waste area becomes attractive, it can quickly affect the rest of the property too.

Quick bin check:
• Is the lid closing properly?
• Is there any spilt rubbish nearby?
• Does the area smell stronger than it should?
• Are you seeing flies or ants around it often?

Keep it closed. Keep it clean. Keep it less interesting.
Because pests love a free meal.

Mosquitoes don’t need a dam. They just need standing water. 🦟

After rain, take a quick walk around the garden and check:
• pot saucers
• buckets
• bird baths or outdoor bowls
• blocked gutters
• empty containers holding water

Small water collections are easy to miss, and easy to forget.

That’s why this is such a good habit:
Rain today. Check tomorrow.
Tip it out, clean it up and remove what you don’t need.

Simple. Fast. Worth doing.

If cockroaches suddenly seem more noticeable during wet weather, that’s not your imagination. 🪳

Rain and damp conditions can push pest activity toward warm, sheltered indoor spaces like:
• kitchens
• cupboards
• under sinks
• behind appliances
• drain areas

Look behind the fridge, under the sink and along the edges of cupboards.
If sightings keep repeating, it may be time to deal with the source properly.

That one ant on the counter may not be lost. 🐜

Sometimes the first ant you notice is just the beginning.

If you’re seeing one or two ants indoors, check:
• where they’re coming from
• what they’re heading toward
• whether there’s moisture, crumbs or pet food nearby

Because once the trail is established, the problem usually grows fast.

The first proper spring rain can bring more than fresh air and green gardens. 👀

Check your windows, lights and door areas.

If you notice:
• winged insects gathering near lights
• piles of discarded wings
• repeated swarming after rain
…it’s worth paying attention.

It does not automatically mean a full infestation, but it is the kind of early sign you don’t want to ignore.

A quick check could save you from a much bigger headache later.

A pest problem rarely starts on the day you notice it.

By then, the activity may have been developing quietly for some time.

September is the ideal time of year to pay attention to changes around your home or business as warmer weather begins to bring renewed pest activity. South African pest-control guidance specifically highlights increased spring activity among pests such as ants, flies, cockroaches, termites and stinging insects.

If you've started noticing something unusual, don't wait for it to become the soundtrack of summer.

We're playing a very questionable game of Spring Bingo. 😂

How many squares can your property tick off already?
0–1: You're doing well.
2–3: We're watching you. 👀
4+: We may need to talk. 😂

Comment with your score.
