Lace and Whimsy Creative Concepts

The frame is made from branches collected after a terrible storm, I made them into a wreath and painted it with, Goodness, Creative Crystal, Frik's Forest, Elvis Mix, and dabbed on some Cloud White. Everything was sealed in undiluted Clear Glaze

The owl was painted on 6mm round wooden canvas. I painted a base colour of Dori's Dance.
The owl consist of several colours, Elvis Mix, Cloud White, Terena's Idea, Thinus's Terracotta, Dani's Dare, Kaylee's Candy, Charl's Serenity, John's Joy, Matt Black, Petunia and David

I built colour up in layers using artist brushes, did colour washes in Dani's Dare and Matt Black.
Finally I adhered the board to the wreath that is now the frame

I used the following products
Real Red, John's Joy, Laughing Lee, Matt Black, Cloud White, Clear Glaze, Mirror Spray, decoupage sheet.
The whole frame was washed with Lacquer Thinners, several times allowing for drying in-between washes,
I then applied my mirror spray to the glass pane, leaving a section for the decoupage sheet, before applying the image, I stenciled using Matt Black, and applied another coat of mirror spray to sandwich the stencil between layers.
Then after dry, I applied the image on the surface using undiluted Clear Glaze, I applied several coats to prevent bleeding from 2 coats of Cloud White painted behind the image.
Once that was dry I painted Matt Black allover hoping that some areas would darken.

The frame was painted in a mix of Real Red and John's Joy 2:1 mixing ratio, to achieve a coral red. After drying I used the vaseline distress method to make the paint finish appear chipped. The final layer is Laughing Lee, and after it dried I used a scouring pad to distress. I then added pre-painted embellishments to pre drilled holes.

My mom bought these framed Trechikoff prints before she even married my dad, and they were married for over 60 years before he passed away. So when she presented me with them I was thrilled to say the least.
The frame was made over, but the original print is safely tucked inside.
The painted image was done on top of the glass pane and is of our daughter as a toddler.

I used Holiday's Coral, Matt Black, Terena's Idea, Palimpses and Antique Brown Glaze. First I cleaned the whole frame as well as glass thoroughly with Lacquer Thinners, and painted my base of Holiday's Coral all over. I then used a old image as reference and painted my daughter in Matt Black
I used Terena's Idea to dry brush detail and used an artist brush to apply Antique Brown Glaze. Palimpses was applied in the negative spaces for some brightness
