Rev. Naka reminded the church that there is power in praise, just as Paul and Silas praised God in the midst of persecution and pain. Even in difficult times, believers are encouraged to continue worshipping and trusting God. He emphasized that once we hear the voice of God, we should not be afraid or run away from His calling.

The message highlighted that the strength of the church is not in the building itself, but in its foundation, which is Jesus Christ, our Rock. True worship is not about the place of worship, but about how we worship God. He encouraged believers to proclaim the name of Jesus boldly, because life and death are in the power of the tongue.

A strong emphasis was placed on the Holy Spirit and God’s anointing. Rev. Naka shared that God manifests His power through His anointing and that the Holy Spirit brings unity among believers. He spoke about the “wind of change” and the moving of the Holy Spirit among God’s people.

The sermon also warned against sin and disobedience. Using examples such as Moses and Jonah, he reminded the congregation that obedience to God is important and that repentance begins with a transformed mindset. He stressed that if people do not let go of sinful ways, sin will lead them away from God.

Finally, the congregation was encouraged to recognize and celebrate what God is doing, to stand firm when the enemy rises, and to seek God wholeheartedly through His Word, His Spirit, and true worship.

The power of the Holy Spirit 🕊️is revealed when we live lives of obedience and surrender to God. Romans 12 teaches that our worship must be expressed in holy living that pleases Him.

The Holy Spirit strengthens us to crucify the desires of the flesh and resist temptation, which comes from the devil. The Holy Spirit works hand in hand with the Word of God, urging us to obey it fully. As Ezekiel was commanded to speak God’s truth, so we too must let our hearts overflow with His Word, knowing that what fills the heart will flow from the mouth.

The church itself draws its strength from honoring the Holy Spirit, who intercedes for us and partners with us in prayer. He equips us with gifts that make room for us and blessings that carry us into new places of influence.
The Holy Spirit ensures that our lives are not lived in vain but as testimonies of God’s glory.

Prayer is especially essential in this journey, for when we neglect it, we open the door to trials and distractions. Yet, the name of the Lord remains our strong tower, and His wisdom never fails, guiding us into victory.

Text: Romans 13:1-7
Topic: Submission to Authority

Rev. Manasa Kolivuso spoke on the theme “Submission to Authority” from Romans 13:1–7, focusing on the biblical understanding of civil authority. He explained that all authority is established by God and that delegated authority is a divine assignment. Submission means yielding respectfully to those placed in authority, and our attitude toward authority reflects our relationship with God.

Rev. Manasa emphasized that it is contradictory to claim to honour God while disrespecting earthly authorities, as such behaviour reflects a spirit of rebellion. Drawing from Scripture, he reminded the congregation that every person is called to submit to governing authorities, including within families and human institutions. Using the example of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, he illustrated that while Christians should stand firmly for truth and faith, disagreements with authority must be expressed in a respectful and civil manner.

He further taught that rebelling against authority is ultimately rebelling against what God has instituted, and disagreement does not justify rebellion. Referring to David and King Saul, he highlighted David’s refusal to harm King Saul because he recognised God’s appointment.

Rev. Manasa also noted that governing authorities exist for the good of society, maintaining peace, justice, and order. Christians are therefore called to obey the law, uphold righteousness, love God and neighbour, and understand that true victory comes through doing what is right. Punishment for wrongdoing, he concluded, reflects divine justice and reinforces the importance of living in submission to rightful authority.
