🚢 MV FOTU-O-SAMOA III — BLESSED AND COMMISSIONED INTO SERVICE
A proud milestone for Samoa Shipping Corporation Ltd and the people of Samoa.
The MV Fotu-o-Samoa III was officially blessed and commissioned into service at Salelologa Port, Savai‘i, on 14 September 2026, with the keynote address delivered by the Honourable Prime Minister and Minister responsible for SSC.
Owned and operated by Samoa Shipping Corporation Ltd, FOSIII represents an investment in reliable sea transport, stronger trade links and the movement of essential supplies between Samoa and our Pacific neighbours.
Built by Sealink Shipyard in Miri, Malaysia, the vessel was purchased by SSC through a WST16.8 million financing arrangement supported by the Unit Trust of Samoa (UTOS) and BSP Bank. SSC acknowledges the responsibility that comes with this investment: to operate the vessel safely, maintain her well and manage services responsibly to meet our financial obligations and deliver lasting value.
The 45.5-metre landing craft provides flexible capacity for vehicles and cargo, with accommodation for 12 passengers. Her intended regional service includes connections with the Cook Islands, Manu‘a, Tutuila and Tokelau. Confirmed sailing schedules and booking information will be announced through SSC’s official channels.
We sincerely thank the Government of Samoa for its continued support throughout the project, including changes to the construction and delivery timeline. We also acknowledge UTOS, BSP Bank, Sealink Shipyard, the Classification Society, MWTI’s Maritime Administration, and the past and present leadership, staff and stakeholders who helped bring this vessel into service.
Special appreciation goes to Delivery Captain Lumanuvae Mapu Jnr. Tapuai Soti and the delivery crew for bringing FOSIII home from Malaysia through a challenging forty-day voyage.
As the third vessel to carry the Fotu-o-Samoa name, she continues a proud legacy of service to our people. Safety, crew welfare and dependable service remain central to her purpose.
