A photo shared this morning on Facebook by former Vanuatu Cultural Centre Director and current Minister of Climate Change, Ralph Regenvanu, highlights the completion of a traditional Naghol (land diving) platform in South Pentecost. According to the post, the platform was completed yesterday and is being used today for the famous kastom land-diving ceremonies. The stunning image, taken by Michael Louzé, overlooks the dense forests and coastline of Pentecost Island and shows the carefully constructed wooden tower prepared for the seasonal dives. Naghol is one of Vanuatu’s most internationally recognised cultural traditions, practiced mainly between April and June as part of yam harvest customs and rites of courage, attracting both cultural interest and tourism attention from around the world.

Santos roads are receiving a much needed upgrade both north and south which will make the islands attractions much more accessible!
