NEWSVI: Delayed Start Today at Government Offices in St. Thomas/St. John District

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Please be advised that Acting Governor Tregenza Roach has announced a 12 pm opening of government offices in the St. Thomas/St. John District as a result of the power disruptions.

NEWS VI: UPDATE 5:56 PM basically do away with the rotational schedule when your power off expect a (2) hour outage. \

WAPA ALERT:

STT/STJ- Due to instability in power generation, WAPA personnel are working to maintain service for as many customers as possible. As a result, the previously released outage schedule is no longer accurate. Customers should expect two-hour outages when affected. Plant personnel are working diligently to stabilize generation and restore service.

Read this exchange between myself, Emmet Prevost and a very good colleague regarding WAPA's method of communicating with the public.

And imagine you have a generator and you cussing also

Friend:
I’m cussing for the people who are trying to get ready for church and trying to make food for their families. You can’t tell people 30 minutes and then not communicate with them after six hours of the power being out that’s nonsense. If the power is gonna stay out , you gotta get on the horn and tell people why and how long to expect but you can’t tell people 30 minutes and then go quiet for hours.

Why I share:
1. To excite ALL PIO (Public Information Officers) and Director of Communications to upgrade and incorporate additional methods and avenues of communicating with our community espcially on weekends specifically Sundays. We - You the PIO and us- media we have no days off. Let's work together.

2. Every has a cell phone, do a selfie video and use that for an update. Next share that same video with all media outlets including posting on your Agency's social media page.

3. With that same cell phone, make a audio note and send to all radio stations. Once the problem evolves into an island wide problem all media outlets will broadcast/ air.

We must work together as no one person can do it alone.

Now in a past post on this very same WAPA topic my friend Elizabeth Morales pointed out a few errors in my subject verb agreement and she was correct. However Elizabeth I make very damn good videos, I take great photos and I am very skilled in marketing, communicating and broadcasting to our diverse demographic. My point is simple, lets combine our skills for a wonderful outcome. Take my video editing or another great content creator and combine with your writing skills, or Shanell's and let's make a better situation for everyone.
