BVI Health Promotion Unit
The Health Promotion Unit is under the Ministry of Health and Social Development.
The Health Promotion Unit's mandate is to "strengthen the capacity of individuals and communities to control, improve and maintain physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being." We recognize that health promotion encompasses much more than disease prevention and control, therefore, we strongly advocate for general health and wellness.

🎀 Awareness is more than wearing pink—it’s about taking action.
💕 This October, encourage the women in your life—and yourself—to stay informed, know your body, and keep up with recommended screenings. Early detection matters, and awareness can make a difference.
💗Together, we stand with the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and honor those we remember. 🎀

🌿 Mindful Monday Check-In
Before the day gets away from you, take a moment and ask yourself: How am I really feeling today?
Checking in with yourself can be as simple as pausing, taking a few deep breaths, and noticing your thoughts and emotions without judgment.
Remember, caring for your mental and emotional well-being is an important part of caring of your overall health. 🧠✨
💚 Take a moment for YOU today!

💛 Protecting your peace doesn’t mean you don’t care 💛
We interact with different personalities, moods, and emotions every day—but we don’t have to carry them all with us.
🌿Give yourself permission to pause, reset, and create healthy emotional boundaries. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your well-being is recognize what belongs to you—and what doesn’t.
This , remember: you can show compassion without carrying the weight.

💻 📱Between the emails, group chats, notifications, and the “lemme just check one thing” that somehow turns into 30 minutes of scrolling 👀😂, our screens can take up more of our day than we realize.
This , give yourself permission to disconnect for a little while. Be present, enjoy your surroundings, have a good laugh with a coworker, or simply enjoy a few quiet moments.
Your messages will still be there when you get back. 😉
🔋🌴Unplug a little. Recharge yourself. 🔋🌴

🧠 : Your brain is built to keep learning!
🌱✨Did you know your brain continues to adapt and form new connections throughout your life? This incredible ability, known as neuroplasticity, means that learning and new experiences can continue to shape your brain at every age.
🌱Keep your mind active: stay curious, learn something new, challenge yourself, and embrace new experiences.
✨A healthy mind is an important part of a healthy life.

🗣️ Meaningful conversations begin when we give others our full attention. Too often, we’re already thinking about what we’ll say next instead of truly hearing what someone is trying to communicate.
💛Today, put distractions aside, make eye contact and listen without interrupting. Sometimes, simply feeling heard can make all the difference.
💬Mindful listening strengthens relationships, builds understanding, and helps us connect with greater empathy and intention.
🌿This Mindful Monday, challenge yourself to be quick to listen and slow to speak.
