After 30 years in tech—code, servers, 3 a.m. updates—I traded the keyboard for clippers. And guess what? I’ve never looked back.

Another memory from 10 years ago. 10 years ago today, I finished painting the walls of the barber shop. Slowly counting down to the 10 year anniversary.

Then & Now – 10 Years on Carey Avenue

Ten years ago, The Times-Leader published an article about a barbershop I was just beginning to build. Thank you to Geri Gibbons for capturing that moment—when all I had was an idea, an empty space, and a coffee urn.

Today, I stood in that same spot. The walls are fuller, the chairs are worn (in a good way), and the shop has become something much more than I could have imagined back then.

It’s been 10 years of cuts, shaves, stories, laughter, and community. From vintage lamps to game-day jerseys, everything in this place has a story—and so do the people who walk through the door.

Thanks to every single person who’s been part of this journey. Here’s to 10 more years of good haircuts and better conversation.
