Adas Israel Congregation - Washington, DC

Join us tonight for our Shabbat Festival Service featuring a D’var Torah from members of the Jerusalem Youth Chorus, Israeli and Palestinian artists who have spent years choosing to sing, listen, and learn from one another.

The conversation continues Shabbat afternoon at 1:15pm in the Biran Beit Midrash, where JYC alumni will share their stories and lead us in song and meaningful dialogue. adasisrael.org/israel

Today, on the third anniversary of October 7th, our hearts are with Israel. We ache for those we’ve lost. We hold close all who are healing. Together we mourn, together we continue to hope.

This Sunday morning (10:30) Adas will welcome Dr. Shoshan Haran, kidnapped by Hamas on 10/7 and brutally held in captivity for 50 days. She writes the following in her book she’ll be discussing with us:

“Meanwhile, I try to rebuild my life. In time, I join groups whose membership is determined by criteria nobody would choose to fulfill: a group for captivity survivors and another for widows and widowers. I follow the WhatsApp conversations in both groups and understand that the trauma we endured, which we still carry with us, is directly connected to the physical location where our loved ones were murdered or kidnapped, the place that cut our lives into two.
A before. And an after.”

Together we’ll hold her tightly in this home, our home. At Adas, our relationship with Israel (people, land, & nation) calls us to keep showing up, to keep learning, to keep engaging, and to even keep dreaming. In the weeks and months ahead, we invite you to join us for programs and experiences that encourage us to listen deeply, bear witness, ask difficult questions, and nurture our shared hope for a more peaceful future. adasisrael.org/israel
