The end of August and beginning of September is a busy time of year for me. I spent quite a bit of time harvesting my garden. I got a very good haul of potatoes and carrots this year. I feel it's from adding compost and manure to my carrot patch, and I didn't add as much potatoe fertilizer to my potatoes. I feel that the potatoe fertilizer you buy makes them grow bigger tops, and not put energy into growing actual potatoes, just my experience. I need to bring in all my veggies, clear out the greenhouse, clean up the garden beds, dump the flower pots, and store everything away before I can think about hunting. I always feel rushed to get it all done! By this time of year, I've had enough of gardening. I like it, but it's not my favorite activity. I'd rather be hunting or fishing!

What are some natural methods you use to try to stay healthy during the winter months?
I have been seing Fire C***r being used by a lot of friends and I thought I would try it this year!
It is very easy to make and there are endless possibilities to the combination of ingredients you can use that would make up a healthy c***r.

May you never forget the magic of the forest!

What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn, but found a little intimidating or out of reach?

For me, it was fly fishing.

My grandfather was a well-known “fly guy.” I grew up watching him painstakingly restore old Payne rods and tie flies at his basement bench. Somehow, we never got the chance to fly fish together.

My health wasn’t great earlier this year, and when I finally started feeling better, I was incredibly grateful to get back to doing the things I love. Somewhere along the way, landing a fish on a fly became a bucket list item.

So, earlier this year, I decided to give fly fishing a try.

A big thank you to Christian Grabowski of NY GUIDE SERVICE for the professional guidance and pointers on the Salmon River. With a little instruction, I managed to land not one, but THREE beautiful kings!

Turns out I love fly fishing even more than I expected. To say I feel blessed is an understatement. I might have even cried a little… over a fish.

My grandfather would have loved this.

Now that bow season is upon us, do you prefer to wear face paint or a face cover like a mask or gaiter?

I prefer to wear a face gaiter. I use a lightweight one for early bow season and a heavier one for late season when it's cold. I also wear a white camo gaiter for snowy bow hunting days.
