We went into the day expecting something beautiful, but being there felt even better. The warmth, the laughter, and the way everyone came together stayed with us long after the night ended. We left with so many photographs we loved and an even deeper appreciation for Jarita & David.

From our first Zoom call, Kristin and Ryan felt so easy to connect with. They were warm, funny, completely open, and very much themselves.

The day began at Kristin’s sister’s home in Short Hills. Her two nephews kept coming into the room to find her, play with her, and be close to her. It was her sister’s house, but it felt just as much like home to Kristin.

Their first look happened quietly in the backyard under the warm afternoon sun. In the middle of it, one of their young students happened to walk by and saw the teachers getting married. The excitement, the hugs, and the quick photo together made the moment even sweeter.

Afterward, Kristin and Ryan shared their private vows inside the house. I stood quietly to the side as the only witness, listening to stories that were personal, funny, and deeply moving.

At Verona Park, I barely needed to give them any direction. I only had to tell them where to stand, and they naturally fell into their own rhythm.

The ceremony and reception at Halcyon felt refined but never formal. Guests filled the private floor like one big family gathering. Later, Ryan’s father sang while playing the harmonica. His voice carried so much story, and the way Kristin and Ryan watched him was full of love and admiration.

Before sunset, we stepped outside for a few photographs around Montclair. Warm light fell across the street and the two of them, while passing cars and strangers called out their congratulations.

Some couples bring such an easy energy that photographing them never really feels like work. Ginny and Wayne were like that from the beginning. Warm, funny, open, always smiling, and completely themselves in front of our cameras. Ginny was beautiful, and Wayne had a way of making everyone around him feel comfortable.

Ginny had told us how much she loved our style and that choosing us had been a big decision. We carried that trust with us throughout the day.

During the ceremony, we kept noticing Ginny’s mother. She said very little, but sat completely still with her fingers tightly interlaced, watching and listening to every moment. There was so much feeling in that small gesture.

Later, Wayne’s younger brother spoke about the three brothers and some of what their family had been through. He said Wayne had been like a father to him. Wayne, well over six feet tall, lowered his head into Ginny’s shoulder, held her close, and quietly cried. Seeing someone so tall trying to hide inside the arms of the person he loved was a moment we won’t forget.

And then the room came alive again. Games, laughter, and everyone joining in. It felt very much like Ginny and Wayne. Full of warmth, humor, and life.

Loved all the colors, textures, and little details of this restaurant. It felt like stepping into a different place for a while.

Such a fun setting for a couple’s session, and a nice change from the usual NYC streets.

Iris did her own hair and makeup that morning. She told me she only really feels comfortable doing it herself, because she knows exactly what she likes. That felt very much like her. She was bright, playful, and completely at ease in front of the camera.

Arthur was quieter and more reserved. Steady, thoughtful, and very grounded. Whenever he looked at Iris, it was easy to see how much he loved her.

Iris found her family in a way that was a little different. The warmth around her that day, and the open, joyful way she moved through the wedding, said more than any explanation could.

Gatsby on the Ocean was such a beautiful setting for them. Historic, elegant, and right beside the Atlantic, with the beach and open sky just outside. Near sunset, we slipped away for a few quick portraits. The light only stayed for a short time, but it was warm and beautiful, falling across the two of them as they stood together. I still remember exactly how that moment felt.
