No runway? No problem. âī¸
On Monday, Electra's hybrid-electric EL9 Ultra Short aircraft made history by taking off and landing at the Downtown Skyport in Lower Manhattan â a fixed-wing aircraft touching down at a Manhattan heliport, no runway required.
Today, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine got a look at the footage of that historic landing â and it's being built right here in Springfield, Ohio! Electra.aero
Today at NAAMCE, Governor Mike DeWine and Electra.aero CEO Marc Allen marked Electra's commitment to Springfield: 2,000 jobs and the EL9 aircraft, made right here. Hear it from Marc himself. âŦī¸

What a great afternoon for a trolley ride!
Our Ambassadors started things off with lunch at Skyline Chili, then joined the Fall Leaf Trolley Tour at Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum. The leaves are at their peak right now, and the ride came with all kinds of stories about Springfield's history.
Thanks to the Ferncliff team for showing us around. If you haven't been on one of their tours, put it on your list!

History touched down in Springfield today. âī¸
This afternoon, inside the hangar at the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence, Governor Mike DeWine and Electra.aero CEO Marc Allen celebrated Electra's commitment to Springfield with a ceremonial signing - and we were there to see it happen.
Electra is investing $850 million to build its first production facility right here in Springfield, creating nearly 2,000 jobs and building the EL9 Ultra Short - a hybrid-electric aircraft that can take off and land in spaces as small as a soccer field. The new era of aviation starts with an airplane. And that airplane starts HERE.
Proud moment for our community, our partners, and everyone who has worked to put Springfield on the aerospace map. This is what it looks like when the future chooses Springfield.
