๐๐ธ๏ธ Thankful Thursday: Connected at IC! ๐ธ๏ธ๐
Today weโre thankful for the little things that help turn a classroom into a community!
Our 1st graders created a friendship web by passing string to one another, making connections, and taking time to simply say hello. By the end, they had a pretty good visual reminder that everyone in their classroom is connected. ๐ฅฐ
Itโs a simple activity with an important lesson: we all have a place, we all matter, and our community is stronger when we make an effort to connect with one another.
Weโre thankful for classrooms where students learn how to be good classmates and good friends right alongside reading, writing, and math. ๐

๐ฟโจ Witness Wednesday: St. Francis of Assisi โจ๐ฟ
As October comes to a close, we celebrated our Saint of the Month, St. Francis of Assisi, and the students who have shown his example of peace, gentleness, and service throughout our school community. ๐
It was also a perfect day to celebrate the saints because our students enjoyed their All Saints Day parties today! There was plenty of fun, laughter, and celebrating throughout the building. ๐๐
And donโt worry... pictures from the festivities are coming soon! ๐ธ
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us! ๐

๐บโจ Teaching Tuesday: Making History! โจ๐บ
Who needs pencils and paper when you have clay?
Our students took a trip back in time as they learned about ancient writing systems and then put their knowledge into practice by creating their own writing in clay!
Hands-on activities like this turn history from something students simply read about into something they can experience, create, and remember. ๐
At IC, sometimes learning means getting your hands a little dirty!

๐ฟ๐จ Mission Monday: Learning From the Saints ๐จ๐ฟ
Our 4th graders and Kindergarteners spent some time together creating portraits of St. Francis of Assisi, our Saint of the Month!
As they created, our students had the chance to learn from one another while celebrating a saint who reminds us to live with peace, gentleness, and service. ๐
Faith, creativity, and a little cross-grade teamwork make for a pretty great Monday at IC!
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us! ๐

๐ฑ๐พ๐บ Fun Friday: Hands-On at IC! ๐บ๏ธโจ
Our students were definitely not afraid to get their hands dirty this week!
From planting and spreading hay, to practicing ancient writing in clay, to creating Missouri out of salt dough, learning at IC took plenty of different forms.
Sometimes the best lessons come with a little dirt, clay, flour, salt... and probably a mess or two along the way. ๐
Another week of learning, creating, serving, and being Made for Greatness! ๐

๐๐พ Thankful Thursday: Many Hands Make Light Work! ๐พ๐
Today weโre thankful for our 8th graders and Mrs. Mount, who saw a muddy construction problem and got to work!
Mrs. Mount purchased hay, and our 8th graders helped move it to create a walkway that will help keep everyone from tracking mud into the building during construction. ๐ทโโ๏ธ๐ฅพ
It may not be the most glamorous job, but itโs a great example of service, teamwork, and taking care of our school community. And after everything construction has thrown our way, weโll happily celebrate anything that keeps a little more of the outdoors... outdoors. ๐
Thank you, 8th grade and Mrs. Mount! ๐

๐ฟ๐พ Witness Wednesday: Learning Through Godโs Creation ๐พ๐ฟ
Our 2nd graders combined writing, research, and faith as they wrote about their favorite animals and shared some fun facts about them!
Itโs a perfect project for the month of St. Francis of Assisi, reminding us to notice, appreciate, and care for all of Godโs creation. ๐
โPraise be to you, my Lord, through all your creatures.โ โ St. Francis of Assisi

๐โจ Teaching Tuesday: Teachers Are Learners, Too! โจ๐
Our students werenโt the only ones learning last week! While they enjoyed some time away from the classroom, our teachers were busy completing professional development and sharpening their own skills. ๐๐ป
Great teaching requires us to keep learning, reflecting, sharing ideas, and finding new ways to help our students grow. Our teachers spent time working together, learning from one another, and adding a few new tools to their already very full teacher toolboxes. ๐งฐ๐
Of course, professional development also proves that teachers experience all the same things students do: lots of information, questions, group work, and wondering when the next snack break is. ๐
Weโre grateful for educators who continue investing in themselves so they can give their very best to our students.
At Springfield Catholic Schools, being Made for Greatness means we never stop growing! ๐

๐งฝโ๏ธ Mission Monday: Called to Serve โ๏ธ๐งฝ
Sometimes living like Jesus looks like prayer, kindness, or helping a friend.
And sometimesโฆ it looks like washing cafeteria tables after lunch. ๐๐งผ
Our students are learning that service doesnโt have to be a huge gesture. It can be noticing what needs to be done, pitching in, and taking care of the spaces and people around us. ๐
There may not be much glory in chasing crumbs around a lunch table, but Jesus showed us that no act of service is too small when it is done with love. ๐
So our Mission Monday challenge this week is simple: Look for a job that needs doing, and help before someone has to ask.
Because even with a cleaning rag in your hand, you can be Made for Greatness! ๐
