The 12th annual Dr. Michael N. Compton Public Affairs Essay Contest is a joint undertaking between the MSU Sigma Pi Fraternity, it's alumni through the Institute for Development of Ethics and Leadership and the Missouri State University's Office of Public Affairs Support. Entry Deadline: October 25, 2026
Essay Content
Essay should address the 2026-27 public affairs theme, The We Factor: Building Connections That Matter
Submitters may choose a specific aspect of the theme or address the theme as a whole.
Essays should be between 250 and 1500 words.
Essay must be the original work of the person submitting the essay.
Who Can Enter
Any full-time classified freshman through senior attending the Missouri State University Springfield campus are eligible for this contest. Graduate level students are not eligible.

Peer through our state-of-the art telescopes and see the night sky like never before. No registration necessary.

The Baker Observatory is located in Webster County approximately 10 miles northwest of Marshfield, off Missouri Highway 38. We encourage you to carpool due to a limited parking area.
