PART 10 💅🏽 | WE DECIDED TO LEAVE

This was the point where my coworker and I finally decided we were OUT.

We had spent so much time researching, asking questions, looking at our contracts, and trying to understand what our options were.

We were scared, but we knew we couldn’t stay there forever.

Then we found a salon-suite setup where we could actually start our own businesses… and suddenly we had a whole new problem:

We had to figure out how to build a business from the ground up.

Our own supplies.
Our own paperwork.
Our own rent.
Our own clients.

And we were doing it around CHRISTMAS. 😭

Looking back, leaving was terrifying… but it completely changed the direction of my career.

PART 9 💅🏽 | WHEN I STARTED QUESTIONING EVERYTHING

By this point, I was fully licensed and helping train new apprentices… and some of the things I was seeing started hitting differently after everything my coworker and I had already discovered.

One situation involving a soak-off really made me realize how important proper education and supervision actually are.

I wasn’t trying to scare anyone or tell them what to do. I just wanted them to know what WE had experienced so they could make their own decisions.

Meanwhile, my coworker and I were quietly starting to make a plan of our own…

And we had NO idea how much our lives were about to change.

This time last year, I was 50 pounds heavier.

It’s definitely been a tough road, and there have been plenty of ups and downs, but looking back at how far I’ve come is something I’m 100% proud of.

I still have further to go, but honestly, I’m so grateful to be where I am now. I’m proud of the progress, proud of myself for sticking with it, and excited to keep going.
