I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, who practices in a quite, peaceful place with horses. Bonus, I also prescribe-but that’s not my first go to.
This has become a respite for women seeking counsel on life’s major/some minor bumps in the road.

Some of life’s greatest lessons don’t come from words. They come from horses.
This , we’re joining our friends at Horses for Mental Health to and celebrate the lessons horses have taught us. 🐴
Presence. Patience. Trust. Resilience. Connection.
Horses teach us to be more aware of ourselves, more attuned to others, and more willing to meet each moment as it comes. They remind us that meaningful connection doesn’t always require words, and that sometimes the greatest growth comes from simply being present.
What’s one lesson a horse has taught you? Share it in the comments, or create your own braid, share your story, and tag someone to keep the movement going.

Big ONE
10/24/2026
Progress rarely happens in a straight line, and that's something you have to learn to accept.
Some days you'll feel unstoppable, and other days you'll question everything you've been working toward.
You'll make mistakes, lose momentum, and find yourself back in situations you thought you'd outgrown.
That doesn't mean you're failing.
Sometimes, you need to slow down, rethink your approach, and learn a lesson you weren't ready to understand before.
Stop expecting yourself to get everything right.
You're allowed to stumble and still be moving forward.

Nobody really tells you what happens after you realize your “normal” was actually survival.
At first, there is relief.
Things finally make sense.
Why you reacted the way you did.
Why you struggled to trust.
Why you stayed on guard.
Why you shut down.
Why you needed control.
Why peace sometimes made you uncomfortable.
There is something incredibly validating about finally understanding yourself.
But then comes another question:
Who am I without all of that?
Because when survival has shaped your personality, relationships, choices, and reactions for most of your life, healing can feel strangely disorienting.
You start taking away the things that once protected you.
The constant scanning.
The people pleasing.
The emotional walls.
The need to explain everything.
The expectation that something bad is coming.
The belief that you have to handle everything yourself.
And underneath all of that is a person you may not know very well yet.
That can be scary.
Sometimes healthy feels boring.
Sometimes peace feels suspicious.
Sometimes a good relationship makes you uncomfortable because there is nothing to fix, chase, prove, or survive.
Sometimes you catch yourself waiting for the problem that never comes.
That is part of learning a new normal.
You begin discovering that calm does not mean something bad is about to happen.
A boundary does not automatically mean rejection.
Someone disagreeing with you does not mean the relationship is over.
You can rest without earning it.
You can trust slowly.
You can ask for help.
You can leave situations that hurt you.
You can make choices based on what you want instead of what you are afraid of.
And little by little, survival stops being your entire identity.
You do not lose the person who got you here.
You just stop asking that version of you to run everything.
Maybe that is one of the strangest parts of healing.
You spend years learning why you became who you became.
Then you finally get the chance to decide who you want to be now.
