"Stephanie, I'm making more money than I've ever made, so why do I still feel stuck?" asked a physician we're calling Dr. Jones, MD.

It's a question we've heard from physicians, PAs, NPs, and CRNAs over and over again. Financial freedom isn't created by income alone.

It's created when your money gives you choices such as:

- spending more time with family.

- reducing call.

- changing jobs.

- retiring on your terms.

The choice to practice medicine because you want to, not because you have to.

That's the kind of freedom worth pursuing.

What does financial freedom look like to you?

Somewhere this month, a patient will meet one of these graduates and have no idea what it took for them to get there.

The exams. The clinical rotations. The sacrifices. The self-doubt. The determination.

On Friday, Drury University's Physician Associate graduates celebrated a milestone years in the making. These graduates are just getting started.

Congratulations to the newest PAs. You've worked incredibly hard to get here, and we're cheering you on as you take the PANCE, earn that C after your name, and begin the next chapter of caring for patients.

What advice would you give a brand-new healthcare provider on their first day?

As advisors, we're often asked about financial goals, career opportunities, and long-term plans. Days like today remind me that success is rarely about numbers.

It's about perseverance.

Today, the second-ever graduating class from Drury University's Physician Associate program crosses the stage. Behind every graduate is a story of sacrifice, determination, and people who helped make this moment possible.

Some of this year's graduating class are blessed with young children. The sacrifice of what might feel like a million small moments with littles is so hard to do. Now, their families can finally move to the next chapter - right in time for Halloween or fall festivals.

Watching last year's graduation video brought back all those emotions. The proud families. The relieved smiles. The realization that years of hard work were finally paying off.

What an honor it is to watch the next generation of Physician Associates begin their journey.

Congratulations, Panthers. The lives you'll impact are only beginning.

"I finally feel like I'm talking to someone who understands my world," said a client we're calling Martha, PA-C.

One of the most meaningful compliments we've ever received had nothing to do with investment performance.

In fact, it came after a conversation about student loans, a first employment contract, and the uncertainty that comes with transitioning from training into practice. She wasn't looking for a stock tip. She was looking for someone who understood what it's actually like to be a Physician Associate.

When you work with advisors who understand your profession, you spend less time explaining your world and more time building the future you want.

To the PA-Cs in my network: What's one thing you wish someone had explained to you when you started your career?

Even the people doing the lifting need a lift sometimes. A crane was placing an air conditioning unit on a rooftop at our office today and I couldn't help but stop and watch.

The higher the load, the more important the support system. That's true in medicine, too.

As an advisor to physicians, NPs, and PA-Cs, I've learned that successful people often carry more than anyone realizes.
- Career decisions
- Student loans.
- Family responsibilities.
- Financial pressure.

They spend their lives taking care of everyone else.

Sometimes they need someone helping carry the load, too - even the strongest among us weren't built to do it alone.

Nobody is meant to carry everything alone. Sometimes the smartest decision isn't working harder. It's finding the right people to help shoulder the weight so you can focus on what matters most.

Who has helped lift you when you needed it most?

"I've spent so much time building my career, I never stopped to think about what I was actually building all of this for," said a woman we're calling Dr. Mary, DO.

A physician shared that with me during a meeting and the room got quiet for a moment. By every measure, she was successful.

She had:
- income
- savings
- investments
- real estate

But something felt off.

That conversation has stayed with me because financial planning isn't really about money.

It's about aligning your resources with the people and priorities that matter most.

A financial plan answers questions that investment returns can't.

- What do you want your future to look like?
- What opportunities do you want to create for your family?
- What does financial freedom actually mean to you?

At the end of the day, the goal isn't simply to build wealth. It's to build a life that makes all the hard work worthwhile.

What are you building your career for?

Four days from now, these Drury University Physician Associate students will walk across the stage and begin the next chapter of their careers.

Recently, a contract attorney (Alec Martinez of Spencer Fane) and our CEO, Stephanie, had the privilege of speaking with Drury University's PA students about contracts, compensation, and what to watch for before signing their first offer.

Our team always leave these conversations encouraged. The students are incredibly engaged, asking in depth questions about contracts vs offers, working to understand benefits packages, and they genuinely want to make informed decisions.

For those already in practice:

What's one thing you wish someone had told you before you signed your first contract?

A reserved parking spot won't change the world.

But seeing the new one designated for guest speakers at Drury University' Physician Associate program is a reminder that appreciation is often found in the smallest gestures.

We all spend so much time focused on the next meeting, the next class, the next deadline. Taking a moment to make someone feel welcomed and valued is becoming a lost art. Attorney Alec Martinez of Spencer Fane and I agree: it's always nice to feel welcomed.

Well done, Drury. Your students are learning more than medicine. They're learning from a culture that values people.

"I graduate in December. What should I be looking for in my contract?" asked one PA-S client we're calling Marcy. "I'm stressed about my $200,000 student loans that I took out for PA school."

After years of education, clinical rotations, exams, and interviews, its easy to feel ready to sign the first offer that comes along. But your first contract is more than a starting salary. It establishes the foundation for your early career and can have a significant impact on both your professional and financial future.

In today's video, our CEO, Stephanie, walks through several contract provisions every new PA should understand before signing. If you, like Drury University's PAs graduate soon, congratulations. Take the time to understand what you're agreeing to before making one of the biggest career decisions of your life.

"Being able to breathe again."

When I speak to Anesthesiologists residents, Physician Associate residents, or physician residents, I often ask what they're most excited about. It's always the first paycheck, sleep soundly at night, and stop sacrificing.

I get it.

After years of studying, sacrificing, and accumulating debt, that first paycheck feels like proof that it was all worth it.

But I've also learned something: income doesn't solve uncertainty. A lot of high earners are just as anxious about money as everyone else.

Financial confidence comes from having a plan on what to do with your income.

What was the first thing you bought with your first professional paycheck?
