With more than 4,000 students in seven schools, our district has a reputation for providing excellent educational opportunities to its students. In addition, students may participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities and community service projects. With support from parents and the community, work continues each day by dedicated staff members to prepare todayβs students for tomorrowβs opportunities. π Novemberβs Harvest of the Month is pumpkins! π§‘
Did you knowβ¦
π Pumpkin seeds are packed with protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals.
π Pumpkins grow on vines that spread along the ground.
π Pumpkins come in many sizes, ranging from less than one pound to more than 50 pounds!
π Original pumpkin pie recipes used a hollowed-out pumpkin instead of a crust. They were filled with apples, milk and spices, then baked.
π You can make your own pumpkin purΓ©e by roasting pumpkin pieces until tender and blending them until smooth.
π Pumpkin can be added to everyday foods like oatmeal, soups, salads, casseroles, breads, and muffins.
π Pumpkin seeds make a great salad topping or snack!
