Fostering pride, equality, and respect for all LGBT communities locally, nationally, and globally. San Diego Pride has a long history of community philanthropy.

Formed in 1974, as a sponsored program of The Center for Social Services, we produced the first Lesbian and Gay Parade in San Diego to celebrate the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion on New York's Christopher Street. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in 1994 and today San Diego Pride continues to bring together the skills, talents and vision of our diverse community through numerous programs. San Diego Pride's funding comes mainly from Pride Festival fees, beverage and admission charges, corporate sponsorship and parade entry fees. The organization has a five-prong approach to giving to the community which includes support of the LGBT Center, grant funding, direct community support, support of other prides and community partnerships. San Diego Pride has given more than $1.3 million to a wide variety of LGBT organizations as it continues to foster pride and respect for all LGBT co locally and globally.

Hola Pride Comunidad,

As we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, we were reminded of how important it is to continue advocating for our Latine Community; particularly our Q***r and Trans Latine siblings that face further marginalization in this current political and social state. Our intersectional experiences as being Latine and LGBTQIA+ coincide with each other, meaning we all recognize and face these struggles together.

That is why joy, resilience, and resistance is important. Latine Pride was created and sprouted as a space to bring together community in spite of what we continually face. It emphasizes to the rest of the world that regardless of what they might believe, we will continue to persist, loudly and proudly.

We encourage you to continue your advocacy that is aimed towards a just and equitable society. One that involves q***r and trans joy – in the myriad of ways it manifests. This includes joining spaces like Latine Pride that provide a platform for local LGBTQIA+ artists and small businesses within our community. It also includes speaking at City Council meetings; utilizing your constitutional right to vote, especially for these November 3rd midterms; contributing to the orgs that are advocating for these causes, including San Diego Pride via our Pride Sustainer Campaign; or just giving back to those in need. All of these actions require introspection of privileges we might have, while validating and acknowledging the societal disadvantages we also might face. That, too, is vital in the movement towards liberation.

We hope you will join us THIS Saturday, October 24th, at Latine Pride. It is a FREE event, taking place at Liberty Station Central Promenade from 2-7 PM. We encourage you to RSVP!

Looking to continue the celebrations? The Official Latine Pride After Party will be at The Brass Rail, playing Latin Music all night long! You can purchase tickets for that HERE. 100% of ticket proceeds benefit Pride and will go directly to our year-round programming.

Dear community,
Art has always been one of the ways our community tells the world who we are. It carries our history, hints at our future, and reminds us to live in our truth. The world needs q***r artists. And q***r artists need people willing to invest in them, not just once, but all year long.
We’re preparing for OUT at the Museum tomorrow night, Friday, October 16 from 6 to 10 pm, as q***r artists take over the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego for Be the Muse, an evening of art installations, a fashion contest, live performances, burlesque, and an online auction. Get your tickets and join us.
But one night can’t carry a year of work. That’s where the Pride Sustainer Program comes in.

Why Sustainers Matter

Like many nonprofit organizations, San Diego Pride is navigating rising costs and a changing funding environment. Community support has sustained us for more than five decades, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who supports our mission. Now we need a steady foundation to keep going.
Sustainers are monthly donors who provide reliable, predictable support, and that consistency lets us plan ahead and say yes to the work that matters. Your monthly gift helps make possible:

Platforms and exhibitions for LGBTQIA+ artists
Performances that bring our stories to life
Artist development that helps creatives grow their craft and careers
Opportunities for LGBTQIA+ creatives to be seen and paid
Year-round programs, advocacy, and community partnerships through Pride365

The Goal: 1,000 Sustainers

Give $25 a month to keep Pride shining all year long. If 1,000 people join, together we’ll build a strong foundation beneath Pride365, helping San Diego Pride navigate this challenging political and financial environment with confidence.
Whether you’re bidding, cheering, or simply soaking in the creativity tomorrow night, we hope you’ll leave inspired to be a muse all year round.
Become a Pride Sustainer today at sdpride.org/donate, and we hope to see you tomorrow!

San Diego Pride is more than a place. It is a reminder of what happens when a community shows up for itself.

San Diego Pride Festival 2026 brought us together through music, art, connection, and unapologetic self-expression, we proved that Pride is more than a celebration. It’s a commitment to one another.

But the work doesn’t end when the stages go dark. The community we build at Pride deserves to be supported every day of the year.

Help keep that spirit alive. Your contribution sustains San Diego Pride’s year-round education, advocacy, community programs, and supporting LGBTQIA+ organizations.

The future of Pride is something we create together. Help sustain it at sdpride.org/donate.

The 2026 election is days away and we need your help getting out the vote! Join us for one of our phone banking or canvassing shifts to receive up to a $60 gift card per shift worked. Visit sdpride.org/vote to register for a shift.

You see the performance. We see the work behind it.
Through artist development, mentorship and opportunities for creative expression, San Diego Pride invests in LGBTQIA+ artists beyond the festival stage.
Because q***r art deserves more than a moment in the spotlight. It deserves a future.
This National Coming Out Day, sustain q***r creativity year-round by becoming a Pride Sustainer at sdpride.org/donate.

You've seen the celebration. Now see the work behind Pride. 365 days of building community, developing leaders, uplifting artists, and advocating for a more equitable world. Help us sustain the work today. Because a year-round movement, needs year-round support. Become a Pride sustainer at sdpride.org/donate. (edited)

This week is Banned Books Week!

First launched in 1982 in response to a surge in book challenges across libraries, bookstores, and schools, Banned Books Week celebrates the importance of free and open access to information, and our freedom to read.
This year’s theme, “Let Books Be: Protect the Freedom to Read,” feels especially meaningful as book challenges continue across the country, including right here in California. While California has enacted important protections through legislation, “silent” book banning can still happen in our own communities. This can include educators or librarians choosing not to purchase certain titles out of fear of professional or community backlash, or placing books in more restricted areas where they are less accessible to readers.
For LGBTQ+ youth, access to q***r literature is especially important. Seeing yourself reflected in a book can be a powerful experience, and for many young people, it can be their first introduction to other LGBTQ+ people, identities, and experiences. Representation can help young people feel less alone, understand themselves and others, and know that they belong.

This Banned Books Week, we want to highlight local q***r bookstores

Meet Cute Romance Bookshop - 8235 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa, CA
Hosting a Banned Books Week Read-In TONIGHT

Feminist Bookstore - 930 West Washington St. Suite 10 San Diego, CA

What’s your favorite banned or challenged book? Share it with us on social media for a chance to win a banned book of your own!
the books are: All Boys Aren't Blue and Heart Stopper- Graphic novels

In a series of personal essays, prominent journalist and LGBTQIA activist George M. Johnson explores his childhood and adolescence growing up as a gay black man

The Heartstopper graphic novel series by Alice Oseman follows the story of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson as they navigate high school, friendship, and first love.

Dear Community,
October is LGBTQ+ History Month, a time to honor the people, movements and moments that made our lives and our communities possible.
Our history is powerful because it was built by people who chose to act. People who organized when it was dangerous. People who created spaces for joy and belonging when those spaces did not exist. People who gave their time, their resources and their voices because they believed the next generation deserved something better.
For more than five decades, San Diego Pride has been part of that incredible ecosystem of movement work. Our community gathers each year for a Parade and Festival, but Pride has always been about more than a single weekend. The resources, relationships and organizing power built through Pride extend throughout the year and far beyond our events.
Since 1998, San Diego Pride has invested more than $3 million back into community organizations, supporting work that serves transgender people, people of color, youth, seniors, people living with HIV/AIDS and others who experience overlapping systems of inequity.
That legacy is something we are incredibly proud of. It is also something we have a responsibility to carry forward.
That is why, during LGBTQ+ History Month, becoming a Pride Sustainer has never been more important. We invite you to help build the next chapter of Pride.
Throughout LGBTQ+ history, our progress has never depended on a single institution, corporation or moment. It has depended on people. People organizing together. People caring for one another. People contributing what they could to sustain the places and movements they believed mattered.
That same spirit can help carry San Diego Pride forward.
A monthly gift of an amount that is meaningful to you becomes part of something much larger when our community gives together.
We inherited an extraordinary legacy from those who came before us. Now, we have the opportunity, and responsibility, to decide what we will leave for those who come next.
This LGBTQ+ History Month, I invite you to be part of that future.
Become a Pride Sustainer today and help keep Pride shining all year long.
Happy LGBTQ+ History Month.
With Pride,
KishaLynn Elliott

There is something powerful about walking into a space and knowing you belong there.

For LGBTQIA+ people, that feeling has never been a given. We have built it together: at kitchen tables and on dance floors, in galleries and public parks, through food, music, art in a million moments large and small. Q***r events carry that work forward.

That room matters now more than ever. LGBTQIA+ communities are facing renewed attacks on our rights while many of the organizations that support us are under financial strain. We can no longer treat a celebration as separate from the serious work of justice. The act of gathering is part of how we sustain that work. It is how relationships begin, artists find an audience, neighbors become advocates and people remember they are not alone.

This fall, San Diego Pride is creating more ways for our community to gather and shine.

Latine Pride is a free celebration that brings people together across generations through culture, connection and shared joy. Free events matter. They make space for someone who might not otherwise be able to attend, and they remind us that belonging should not depend on the price of admission. Latine Pride honors the richness of LGBTQIA+ Latine communities and the people whose leadership and creativity help shape San Diego every day.

At OUT at the Museum, San Diego Pride’s Art of Pride program will celebrate LGBTQIA+ artists at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The evening is a fundraiser, but it is also an invitation to see what happens when q***r creativity takes center stage. Artists help us tell the truth about our lives. Supporting their work is an investment in the voices and visions our community needs.

And at the Big Q***r Foodie Fest, presented in partnership with the Del Mar Food & W**e Festival, q***r food and hospitality talent will take up space in a cultural experience that reaches well beyond our own community. Food tells stories of family, connection and care. Shining a spotlight on LGBTQIA+ people has never been more vital.

Each event offers something different. Together, they tell one story: LGBTQIA+ people belong in every part of cultural life. We belong at the table, on the stage, on gallery walls and in the crowd.

These gatherings are also opportunities to show up for one another. Attend a free event and bring a friend. Buy a ticket that helps support q***r artists and year-round community work. Discover a chef, performer or maker whose work you want to follow. Every connection helps build a stronger community.

The world is better because we are here. We are the muse and the makers. We feed our communities with art, culture, care and possibility. In every room and every corner of the world, q***r people shine.
