For more than a century, LAJH has worked to create places where older adults can feel safe, supported and connected to the people around them. During Sukkot, we spend time and share meals in temporary structures, in our case, sukkahs at Fountainview, Eisenberg Village and Grancell Village. But the feeling of home comes from something more lasting: the people who make us feel cared for, welcomed and known.

Celebrating the first graduating class of Vocational Nurses from the Annenberg School of Nursing (ASN) at AltaMed in East Los Angeles. 🎓
What made the celebration especially meaningful was the personal journey behind each graduate. A remarkable 79% of the graduates were the first in their families to pursue a career in healthcare or attend college.
This was a product of the partnership between LAJH and AltaMed Health Services to expand ASN’s educational opportunities and reach new communities in East Los Angeles. 22 graduates received their diplomas and took a major step forward in their careers supporting the health of our communities.

As part of an exciting refresh of the Mark Taper Building, residents on the second floor have temporarily relocated to the third floor while their space is upgraded. This project will unfold in phases: once the second floor's refresh is complete, those residents will move back into their updated rooms, and our attention will turn to the first floor.
This renovation sets the stage for construction of our new inpatient psychiatric unit, made possible by a $28 million grant awarded to LAJH through California's Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program. This expansion will significantly grow our capacity for the kind of specialized, compassionate care the Auerbach Geriatric Psychiatry Unit is known for, especially at a time when the need for senior mental health services across California continues to grow.
