We’re excited to welcome a new face to the Lamar County Library System! 🎉 Meet Terren Thomas, our new Purvis Public Library Branch Manager. Get to know Terren a little more below!

Librarian, coach, dog mom, baseball fan, coffee drinker, Disney adult, and bookworm. I recently relocated to Purvis, MS from Louisville, KY. I completed my MLIS from the University of Kentucky and have 14 years of public library experience. I have a passion for literacy, lifelong learning, community, and animal rescue.

When I'm not in the stacks, you can typically find me at the ballfield, watching sports, fostering dogs, or — of course — with my nose in a book and coffee in my hand. I’m so excited to be here and to connect with my new community. Please stop by the Purvis Branch and say hello!

Early Closure Notice

Out of an abundance of caution, all Lamar County Library System branches will close today at 5:00 p.m.

Although conditions in Lamar County seem stable, flooding continues to impact surrounding areas, and water levels remain a concern in several nearby communities. With additional rainfall possible this evening, we believe an early closure is the safest decision for our staff and patrons.

We encourage everyone to use caution while traveling and to avoid flooded roadways.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.
