Welcome to Little Scholars Academy, where learning and understanding are nurtured, imagination encou Welcome to Little Scholars Academy!
In 2001 we opened our first school. We feel the way in which children are handled, directly affects the perception they have of themselves and in turn, how they view others. Their first experience with school sets the tone for their education and shapes his or her future. Our goal is to produce happy, intelligent, confident children. Here you will find a nurturing, educational environment. We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles and personalities. Our highly-qualified teachers are committed to working with each individual child, to ensure optimal social, emotional and educational results. Our director has 20+ years experience operating child care facilities. The Little Scholars Academy Parent Handbook lays out the exact Policies and Procedures that our school is run on. This helps our families to understand what they can expect from us as well as what is needed and wanted from them. Reading through our handbook will provide you with the information needed to help you decide if Little Scholars Academy fits your family’s needs. We invite you to peruse our site and see for yourself what makes Little Scholars Academy so special. We know that finding the perfect learning environment for your child can be a challenging venture. We wish you the best of luck in your search!

Highlights from last month at the Johns Landing Preschool and SW Portland Pre-K/K!

Our Preschool and Pre-K/K students were very busy in September! They learned about amphibians, made their own sailboats, baked banana bread, mixed colors, created play dough and so much more! The older students learned about maps and created one for their school. As always, we played outside as much as possible, and each birthday was celebrated with a treat and an educational gift from Little Scholars!
Parents, check with Michele if you need an invitation to our private SmugMug share site, where ALL the photos are posted each month.

So much summer fun! We did crafts and science experiments, tested our sense of touch and smell, we baked and made ice cream, celebrated birthdays, and played with our friends. We also went on a hunt to find the hidden rocks that Miss Michele painted for each of us!

Our winter sock drive was a huge success! Little Scholars Academy and My Bundle of Joy families donated 216 pairs of children’s socks! Together with Columbia Academy and Emmanuel Presbyterian, we presented 535 pairs of socks to Harbor of Hope, to be distributed to children in need. Thank you so much to everyone who donated to help warm the feet of the unsheltered families of Portland.

This family was with us for many years as we cared for Ella and her sister Kinley in our infant and preschool programs, and it breaks our hearts to have one of our families going through this. If anyone would like to support them or read their story, please see their GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/rainbow-plaid-unicorn-dreamers?member=44532
Our hearts and thoughts are with them and if anyone wishes to help out financially, we would greatly appreciate it!
