Two tests, one choiceāwhich should your student take?
The SAT and the ACT are both successful tools for college admissions testing. But they both have different qualities that may make one better for your student's unique strengths.

The answer: Confidence.
The statistic doesn't state that only 59% of girls ARE good at math or science, it says only 59% SAY they are good at it. That means they may actually be great at math or science, but they don't have the confidence to believe it.
Confidence can shape whether students raise their hand, tackle a challenging problem, or see themselves succeeding in STEM or other subjects. That's why building confidence is just as important as building skills.
What's a proven way to build confidence in your student? Tutoring. Visit HuntingtonHelps.com to learn more about our tutoring options.

What is early decision vs. early action, and should your aspiring college student take advantage of these options?
Early Decision (ED) is the option to apply early to a college. However, if you get accepted to that college, you MUST attend that college.
Early Action (EA) is the option to apply early to a college, but students do not have to commit to the college right away.
Students who are absolutely sure of their first-choice college often apply ED or EA.
Students must make sure they meet the admission requirements for SAT and ACT scores, GPA, and rank to apply ED or EA.
Comment which school your student is applying ED or EA to this year!

What's the best time of day to study?
Trick question, there is no one best time to study! It varies based on every individual's specific schedule and needs. Some students are early risers and most alert in the morning. Whereas others are groggy and not fully awake until mid-afternoon. So when should you study?
š Study when YOU feel most alert and can concentrate without distractions.
ā³ Aim for 45ā60 minute study sessions with 5ā10 minute breaks.
š Avoid waiting until the night before to study. The night before should focus on a light review of what you know and getting enough sleep.

Starting the year strong builds confidence that lasts. šŖ
School can be similar to playing sports when it comes to confidence. When youāre winning, your confidence is high; when youāre losing itās tougher to stay confident and believe in yourself.
In sports, coaches help keep your confidence up. Many teams have multiple coaches. In school, thereās one teacher to 30 students, so itās up to the students themselves to seek help when they arenāt understanding the material.
Thatās where tutors come in!
A tutor is like a coach, but for school! Tutors build confidence and make sure your student is learning the skills needed to perform their best whether itās on tests or homework.
Get a tutor and stay confident!
