BMCC Continuing Education

Last month, BMCC Continuing Education and Workforce Development proudly celebrated the graduates of its High School Equivalency (HSE) program at its first-ever graduation ceremony.

Alison Chatfield, Director of Literacy Programs at BMCC’s Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development, shared a powerful message with the graduates: “We commend your perseverance to attain your GED and unlock new opportunities in your life. Your participation and achievement represent growth in your ability to think critically, take on new challenges with determination, and commit to your goals, even when your path may not have been easy. Your persistence required bravery — to allow help from others and to be patient with yourself.”

For the day’s graduates, earning their HSE diploma represents more than a credential — it’s a milestone, a fresh start and a step toward what comes next. 💙

The ceremony also marked a milestone for a program that has operated for more than 35 years, helping hundreds of students earn their GEDs and take the next step toward their goals.

Whether pursuing a college degree, advancing their careers or opening new doors for themselves and their families, our graduates are a powerful reminder that your past does not define your future.

👏 Congratulations to all of our graduates! We can’t wait to see where your journeys take you next.
