🚌♿ Improving Accessibility, One Stop at a Time!

At StanRTA, we believe everyone deserves a safe, accessible, and comfortable place to catch their ride!

We're taking steps toward improving 14 bus stops along Orangeburg Avenue to enhance accessibility, passenger safety, and the overall rider experience.

Following staff assessments, these locations have been identified for recommended improvements that would bring the stops into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility standards.

These proposed upgrades represent another step in our ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible transit system for everyone in our community.

💛 Better Stops. Safer Rides. Access for All.

On May 10th, Fixed Route Operator Elaine H demonstrated exceptional
awareness, compassion, and quick thinking when she encountered a 12-year-old boy
alone in the parking lot of the Modesto Transit Center.

Elaine noticed several unfamiliar adults approaching the child, offering him something to
drink and a ride to locate his mother. Recognizing that the situation could potentially
place the child at risk, Elaine immediately intervened. After speaking with the boy, she
learned that he had become separated from his family and had been wandering
downtown trying to find his mother.

Rather than leaving the child in an uncertain situation, Elaine took the initiative to es**rt
him safely into the Dispatch office, where staff contacted law enforcement. The child
remained in a safe, supervised environment until authorities arrived and was ultimately
reunited with his mother.

Elaine's willingness to step forward, trust her instincts, and take action reflects the
compassion, vigilance, and commitment to community safety that we strive to
demonstrate at StanRTA.

We are proud to recognize Elaine Hernandez for going above and beyond her regular
duties and making a meaningful difference in the life of a child in need!

StanRTA is proud to serve our community whenever we can!

Yesterday morning at 4am, Modesto Police & Fire called and asked if we could provide a bus at 16th and I Streets in order to provide a dry and warm place for people displaced by a large fire.

One of our incredible employees got a bus immediately and went directly to the location of the fire.

The Red Cross came on scene to assist in placing the affected people in housing around 5am and the bus was later released.

Thank you to our dedicated StanRTA employees and team members for having a heart for our community even outside of your typical duties.
