What's the spookiest experience you've ever had with a bird? 👻 Tell me in the comments 👇

One of mine was just after midnight, when I heard what sounded like a baby crying outside my bedroom window. It was my first Great Horned Owl, perched at the top of the pine in my backyard. 🦉

Ever wondered why grebes look like their feet are coming out the wrong end? 😂 The Pied-billed's genus name literally traces back to "feet at the buttocks."

Week 43 is Grebes & Loons: haunting loon calls, Clark's vs. Western, lobed toes, and a lake full of Eared Grebes. Come learn how to notice them 🪶

I thought this Pacific Loon was in trouble.

58 minutes later, he finally swam away on his own. ❤️

Sometimes getting the shot just means exploring a little farther.

🎶 Once you hear a Western Meadowlark, you’ll never forget it. Many birders compare its cheerful song to R2-D2.

Not every birding day is spent looking for birds.

Sometimes it’s about protecting the habitat that makes those moments possible.

🐦💛 A recently fledged Yellow Warbler begs for another meal while its parent delivers food.

One of my favorite parts of birding isn’t just identifying birds—it’s getting to witness behaviors like this.

A desert oasis doesn’t even sound real until you stand in one. 🏜️

Havasupai was unforgettable.

More from the adventure (and the birds hidden inside this canyon) coming soon. 🪶
