K24 turbo 8th gen civic si 🔥

Rich brought us his recently aquired 8th gen SI for a bit of maintenance and tuning. Overall it was well put together, just needing some odds and ends. Stock K24 with a Deivi Cerritos turbo kit & A/C tuck kit, and Alpha Injection Clinic injectors.

We found a few boost leaks in the intercooler system, and an exhaust leak due to loose turbo manifold hardware. The drivetrain to chassis grounds were not done well, causing some wonky readings. Got that taken care of and it was happier. We also installed an ethanol content sensor to implement flex fuel capabilities.

On pump E85 on about 20 psi she put down 583hp 441tq at 8k rpm. It will be turned down a bit from that on the street as we did not want to push it with stock valvetrain. It will be a very fun car to drive 👏

1993 Toyota Land Cruiser got some much deserved attention! It came in with a few leaks and the a/c was not working. The head gasket was replaced previously, but there were a few items looked over that needed to be done.

-New heater control valve
-New heater/coolant hoses
-New radiator hoses
-New transmission cooler hoses
-New manifold vacuum lines all over
-New fuel evap hoses
-A/C pressure switch replaced & system recharged

287k miles, and plenty more to go 🫡

Composite turbo gaskets will fail you 👎🚮

On the dyno, we were fighting some boost issues with this one. It wasn't blown completely out at first, but got worse as the session progressed. Started peeking around and it made sense. Last time we saw the car we looked at it and said "those will be a problem eventually", and sure enough it became a problem.

We always recommend steel fl**ge gaskets. Same goes for the manifold to cylinder head. Use oem or multi layer steel gaskets if available.

'04 Acura TL ASPEC 6-Speed 😏

Dylan brought us his new to him TL so it could receive the attention it deserved.

-Oil pump & oil pan re-seal
-Oil pump strainer gasket
-Timing belt & water pump
-Front camshaft seals
-Rear camshaft plate seals
-Rear main crank seal & plate re-seal
-New clutch
-Axle seals
-Front/rear engine mounts
-Power steering return hoses
-Sankei 555 front lower ball joints
-Outer tie rods
-All new fluids

A couple of interesting things we found along the way was that whoever serviced this car last re-used the old water pump gasket and topped it off with rtv(which was leaking coolant). Also, the crank key was installed backwards. That was a bit tricky to remove.

All cleaned up and back on the road 👏

*DO NOT USE CHEAP FAKE INJECTORS*

This 2001 CRV came in with some running/stuttering issues. We checked the basics on the list first. Good compression, and fuel pressure was perfect. Good ignition system etc. We did notice that the injector connectors were not holding on properly, so we replaced all 4.

Watching live data on a scanner, we saw fuel trims were compensating a lot. We found out that a set of cheap fake fuel injectors were installed at some point. Luckily, the owner still had the original Honda injectors. We tested them on our machine and found that they were perfect. Installed them back on, and cleared everything up.

In our experience, it is very rare that we see a stock Honda fuel injector from the 90s/2000s go bad unless there was a significant amount of contamination ran through the system. However, if you suspect injectors, a set of used OEM injectors will do better than these fake ones.
