Rebuilding a GN to get back on road
10/16/2026
Local guy Chris , brought his 87 GN in after a no start and storage of the car. So I went to work on the vitals of the car. Car had some really nice suspension upgrades and Wilwood brakes on the car. But because of the car sitting rust started in the gas tank and destroyed the pump. So it was decided to replace and upgrade the entire fuel system .
525 pump, new GBodyparts gas tank, Racetronix ptfe line kit, fuel regulator, fuel rails , deka 60 lb injectors , Turbotweak chip 5.7 and a gen two hot wire kit. Next fresher up the stock ignition system with Delco coil, ignition module and plug wires. Car has stock headers and had the dreaded crack(s) so TA replacement headers were installed , along with a RJC style down pipe , and GN1 test pipe . To bolt up to his magnaflow cat back exhaust. After that , new lt4 starter, vacuum plate kit, powermaster 200 amp alternator,gn1 valve covers , new comp 90lb valve springs , 3 inch gn1 air filter kit, hose kit for intercooler and billet RJC “executive “ accessory pulleys. Plus more! Thinking more will be done to car in the future. Looking forward to that . Thanks for the support!!!

Weeks going by quickly, Mike brought his car in for some help and a 2 hour check out . Car 87 GN Built stroker motor .
He was having problems with first off with TPS getting codes from the XFI. He installed a new delco sensor and always getting a code on it. These new sensors for these cars theses days ARE hit and miss. Bad signal though the new sensor. I’ve got some old stock USA sensors . That cleared the problem up. Then did a visual check out on the car . Car has an air to water intercooler set up . Don’t see that much anymore. So some interesting parts . Mease plenum. A lot of old work that needs attention, we’ll see where it gos. Thanks for the support 👍

Another Great car leaving this week. Jeff’s 87 Buick Regal T . At the dealer they made it a two tone. So it’s not an original D84 car but it’s a super nice 32k car . Came in with leaks and some older bad work that needed fixing . Rear main, engine pan gasket , valve cover leak . Transmission leaking as well( again do not use a rubber gasket) shifter shaft seal was leaking as well. On the way we decided to replace the stock downpipe with an ugly dump boogered on it . Installed a RJC style Down pipe and test pipe . The heater core wasn’t hooked up so I did assembled the air box , cleaned it out and replaced the heater core. Cleaning up everything on the way. Jeff wanted the intercooler hoses and air intake hoses changed from blue to black . Freshening up everything and making it look much better. Cleaning up the intercooler as well. Thanks for the support!

Well the 2026 BP Transmissions GN / Buick meet in Houston is in the books . In the 7 hours we were there we had 31 Buick at the meet. Plus more than a few non Buick cars making it as well. I’d Like thank everyone for its great success 👍 I was so busy talking ( I know I didn’t get to everyone ) that the meet went for me in a flash .
Like to thank James Carroll & Robert Mahnke for helping out . Thank you to Darren McDonald & David M for Donating . We all made it work.

Busy Busy here👍 , AJ brought his car in couple weeks ago to get some work done. Over the last 5 years we built a motor for the car and a transmission, along with fuel system and more. These cars don’t fair well generally in storage for long time . They definitely tend to wake back up from the slumber with a thing or two to address.
We decided to replace the 40 year old ac system with everything in the engine compartment. Then going in after and replacing the evaporator and heater core & heater valve too. Cleaned everything up and turned out great . Shop was 97 and at idle was in the 58* range .
Also did a new ignition on the car. Coil had corrosion on the coil towers.
Headliner was sagging bad . Got a new one installed / map light. Came out in pieces.
Trans service / inspection and small leak at pan
Car has an aftermarket antenna on the car that didn’t work so we found a nos . To start over and installed. Antenna works great now.
Oil leak by drivers valve cover . Drilled out breather. For more flow etc foam removal
Great car , now off for some paint work .
👍
