We hold adoption fairs every weekend. We screen potential applicants to make sure the dog is right fit for their home.

Dogs Without Borders is a 501c3 non-profit, small dog rescue that saves homeless & abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters in the Los Angeles area, and find them permanent and loving homes. We require an adoption application and a home-check. Our adoption fees are listed on our website. All dogs are spayed/ neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption, and come with a DWB ID tag.

Samson is ready for a forever home! 2 yrs, 15 lbs, male, non shedding, needs someone who is home often (separation anxiety), diamond in the ruff. Meet Samson!!

You will never go upstairs alone again. Or to the kitchen. Or, honestly, to the bathroom. If this little guy has his way, you will never be alone again. Meet Samson.

Samson is the happiest, sweetest little love bug, with a soft, fluffy white coat, apricot ears, a face you can't stop looking at, and the longest blonde eyelashes you have ever seen. People always think he is a puppy, but he is about two years old and fully grown. He was surrendered by his owner, and little is known about his life before. His nails were so long when he arrived that he had clearly spent most of his days indoors, so the big world outside is still new to him. He has been in foster care since October 3 and is settling in a little more every day.

If you have ever wanted a dog who adores you completely, this is him. Samson is a true Velcro dog. When he wants to be picked up, he hops around like a little bunny until you get the hint. He will let you snuggle him for a minute, then settle in right next to you, because next to you is his favorite place in the world. Open a snack bag anywhere in the house and he will appear. He has a bit of cat in him, strolling along the back of the couch, perching on the back of your office chair, or stretching out across your desk while you work. He is curious about everything, sweet with everyone who stops to say hello, and generous with kisses for any hand, foot, or face within reach.

Samson is a low-energy lounger and a champion napper. He isn't much for toys, and his idea of a perfect afternoon is curled up on the couch facing you, because he always wants to see his person. You will think he is out cold until the second you stand up, and then he is right there with you. He is quiet and calm at home and does not bark when you are with him. He tilts his head when you talk to him, as if he's hanging on every word, and when he hears something unexpected, even dogs barking on TV, he just looks at you as if to ask what that was. At night he sleeps quietly beside you. He knows his name, wears his harness without a fuss, and seems to have been groomed before. His coat appears to be low shedding. He turns up his nose at store-bought treats and would much rather have people food than dog food. If you eat anywhere near him, he will either try to get a bite or sit and watch every forkful, so meals take a little planning. He will do just about anything for an apple slice.

Samson's perfect home is a calm one where somebody is around most of the day: a retiree who wants a constant companion, someone who works from home and doesn't mind a little dog napping by the keyboard, or someone with a dog-friendly office. An apartment or a house both work, as long as he isn't left alone for long stretches. He would be happiest as the only pet in an adult home, away from a busy household of visitors, kids, and other dogs.

What Samson needs in return is patience. He has separation anxiety and cries and barks when his person leaves, even for a shower with the door closed, though he settles after five to ten minutes, which is a good sign. Nights go best when he can sleep close to you, and he will ask for attention during phone and video calls. He is unsure around other dogs and gives a low growl when they come close, and he has not been around cats or kids.

Whoever adopts Samson should know he is still working on the basics. He uses potty pads some of the time, has not yet gone to the bathroom outdoors, and has gone in his crate, but he holds it all day when he goes to the office, so the control is there. On a leash he would often rather be carried, and is actively still learning to walk with a leash. Loud noises outside still startle him, and he rides in a crate in the car, crying at first. His coat grows long and mats easily, so he needs regular brushing and a groomer every six to eight weeks, and he does not like the insides of his paws touched. His teeth look healthy, and brushing will keep them that way.

Samson started out with a small, mostly indoor life. He doesn't ask for much now: a warm spot next to you, an apple slice now and then, and a person who wants a shadow as much as he wants to be one. If that's you, he's already waiting at the bottom of the stairs. Make Samson your dog son.

🚨🐾 URGENT: WE NEED TWO FOSTERS for Brandy and Larry Jr. 🚨🐾

πŸ†˜HELP!!! If we don’t find a foster home for these two dogs, they will have to go to boarding 😩😩

Both dogs were surrendered by their owners, who could no longer care for them. We can’t let them go to boarding. We are looking for committed foster homes so they don’t have to bounce from place to place.
Please spread the word!

First up is Brandy:
This adorable girl was diagnosed with IVDD and will need a foster who can help with her care. Ideally, she's looking for a foster who is home often and can keep an eye on her. Because of her IVDD, however, she needs to avoid long walks, stairs, running, and jumping to reduce her risk of injury. She can get so excited that her inner athlete takes over, so her family will need to help her make safe choices.
▫️20 lbs, 2.5 yrs old
*Does not like to be in a crate

Next up is Larry Jr:
He is a sweet, cuddly, eager-to-please little guy with the face of a Golden Retriever puppy. He bonds quickly, loves belly rubs and cuddles, and will happily curl up in your lap and fall asleep within 30 seconds. Would do best with no kids, and he is good with other friendly dogs!
▫️17.5 lbs, 2 yrs old
*Not cat-tested and not crate-trained! Prefers to sleep in bed!

Please go to our website at www.dogswithoutborders.org to read their full bios!
Can't foster? Please share this post to help these cuties!

Fostering is FREE! All supplies are provided.

Handsome Jagger is still looking for a forever home! We can't believe noone has applied for this gorgeous, kind, people loving hearing impaired boy. We know black dogs have a harder time getting noticed...can you share his post and help us find him the right forever home? 1 yr, 33 lbs, male, spaniel mix, loves people and dogs. Hearing impaired! Jagger is a stunning 33 lb boy who is literally a rescue diamond!

Jasper appears to be mostly deaf, but that doesn’t hold him back at all from being the sweetest and silliest pup in town. It is impossible not to immediately fall in love with Jasper as soon as you meet him. He is a happy guy with big brown eyes and an adorable puppy face. His foster restricts his water to before walks, otherwise he will drink himself to sickness. With water restriction and regular walks, he is potty trained and will do his business outside. He needs some leash training because he is just so excited and pulls; he wants to say hi to every human and dog he sees. Jasper loves sniffing everything, but he isn’t a marker. He pees once on a walk and then spends the rest of the time sniffing. Jasper is still a bit mouthy, but is gentle. He loves to gently nibble on hands and feet but can be distracted with redirection with toys. He loves to cuddle and lay near and/or on you, but if he gets hot then he will go lay on the floor. He loves to plop down on the floor and makes a thud noise. He is such a silly boy. He doesn’t love entering his crate, but if you throw a treat in there he will walk in and sit in there and is totally fine once he is in it. His foster has him sleep in his crate as a safe space. He is pretty quiet overall and does not bark. It seems Jasper would do well in a variety of homes, as long as he is loved and that his new family understands he cannot hear and they will need to use hand signals instead of verbal commands. Because he cannot hear you approach when he is asleep, it is best to let him wake up before touching him so you don’t scare him. Also, off leash would be very risky with him as he would not be able to hear you call to him. So as long as you are careful and understand his needs, he would be a perfect dog to any lucky home.

New rescue Charlie is ready for a forever home! 3 yrs, 13 lbs, male, terrier. Prefers women. Charlie came to us from a shelter where he was surrendered with 5 other dogs. Three of the five were adopted from the shelter but Charlie and Mickey (who we also rescued) lingered and got a rough case of kennel cough. They were scheduled to be euthanized but we hopped in our rescue-mobile and rushed to save them both. They are fostered separately and, after some antibiotics, are thriving.

Charlie a very sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to be close to you and snuggle in your lap. He can be initially very nervous and anxious, but he warms up to women quickly and now follows his foster mom around the house. Once he feels comfortable, he settles in nicely and enjoys napping, chewing on his rawhide, playing fetch, and getting the occasional case of the zoomies.
He’s still building confidence and can be nervous around new people, especially men, as well as cars and loud noises. He’s still getting used to the leash, but he goes on 3–4 leash walks a day, and he’s making progress. He’s not fully potty trained yet, but he generally waits until he's outside and will try to use puppy pads when needed. He can be a little reluctant to eat, especially breakfast, and needs some encouragement. He’s also curious and playful around other dogs. He’s still learning the house rules and gaining confidence, but once he trusts you, he’s the sweetest, most loving companion.
