It's November 1st!

Don't forget that "Daylight saving time" is Sunday, Nov. 1st, at 2 a.m when it will be time to "fall back" and get an extra hour of sleep!

You might need that extra hour because today is the start of the "Open Enrollment Period" which begins on November 1st and runs until January 15th, but you should aim to be done by December 15th in order to have your coverage start on January 1st.

This is your time to review your current coverage, see what plans are offered for the coming year, and see if anything hasn't been updated in a while. Things like your current income or address can make a big difference, so make sure all of that info

Also, if you currently have a Marketplace plan and will be meeting with us in the office or over the phone, please be sure to have access to the email address or phone number associated with your Marketplace application. We'll need to complete an authorization process before proceeding with your enrollment. The Marketplace will send a verification code to the contact information they already have on file, so please make sure you can access it during your appointment.

And don't forget to think about your dental and vision coverage too! Remember, dental insurance is separate from health, so now is a good time to check and make sure you have that as well.

📝 It’s National Checklist Day!

In 1935 — after a test flight crashed due to a forgotten preflight step — pilots began using written checklists to make sure every detail was covered and to avoid another similar disaster. That’s why we observe "National Checklist Day" every year on October 30th.

Checklists help us stay organized, reduce stress, and make sure nothing important gets missed — which is always a good idea when it comes to your health insurance.

With so much going on — Open Enrollment, the Medicare Annual Election Period, and the upcoming holiday season — now’s the perfect time to use a checklist to make sure you’re on track.

It's only been a few weeks and we've already filled up a whole box with donations!

But there's still plenty of room for more.

In case no one has told you already, we've got a box in our lobby for food donations for Greer Community Ministries and another box for TOYS FOR TOTS. If you're going to be coming to our office and want to participate you are welcome to bring:

Every year, we’re amazed by the generosity of our community and it seems like each year we collect more than the year before. Let's keep that going! And don't be shy, take a selfie with your donation before you drop it off. There's nothing wrong with feeling proud to donate, and it helps encourage others to do so as well. Whether it’s a pantry staple or a toy that brings a smile, every contribution makes a difference.

Prices, coverage, and even what plans are being offered at all can be different from one year to the next, so it's best to take a look at what's coming to avoid any unwelcome surprises.

Oct 24th is "National Prescription Drug Take Back Day."

It's not JUST time to review your Medicare Prescription Drug Plans. It's also time to clean out your medicine cabinets!

Unused prescription drugs that are thrown in the trash or flushed down the drain can start to show up in measurable amounts in our water sources. Proper disposal can help to keep these medications out of our drinking water.

If you have any expired unused medications that need proper disposal look for "Drug Take Back" events in your area. Just a few minutes from our office, the Greer CPW and Greer Police Department ate teaming up to hold a take-back event from 10am to 2pm.

To date, they've collected more than 1,000 lbs of medicine for proper disposal. That's a LOT that could have potentially ended up in our environment.

On October 21, 2005, The Insurance Source began its journey, and 21 years later, we’re proud to still be helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the world of health insurance.

A lot has changed over the years, from the introduction of Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage to the Affordable Care Act and the creation of the Health Insurance Marketplace. We've also moved offices more than once, but if you've been here in the last five years, don't worry, we haven't moved since then.

Through all those changes, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to making health insurance easier to understand and navigate. We’re especially grateful for the people who continue to come back to us year after year, because that trust means we’re accomplishing what we set out to do.
