DOOR International
Deaf reaching Deaf for Christ There are an estimated 70 million Deaf people worldwide, and less than 2% of them know Christ.
DOOR International’s mission is to bring God’s Word and reproducing Christian fellowships to the Deaf of the world. Our calling is two-fold: translation and training.
--We help Deaf communities translate the Bible (and other resources) into their sign languages.
--We train and equip Deaf leaders in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting to reach their communities for Christ.

Did you know? 🌎
111 out of 195 countries do not officially recognize a national sign language.
Language recognition can open doors to education, interpreting, healthcare, government services, and greater participation in society.
Sign language is a language. Deaf people deserve access, recognition, and the opportunity to participate fully. 🤟

Language access matters. 🤟
90% of Deaf children are born to hearing parents, yet many families don’t know sign language.
Without full access to language, Deaf children can experience language deprivation.
Every Deaf child deserves accessible language from the start.

There are so many things not to say to Deaf people.
Good intentions don’t always mean good impact. Let’s replace assumptions with understanding, respect, and genuine connection.
Learn. Listen. Respect. 🤟

Deaf and deaf can mean more than just a difference in capitalization. 🤟
Deafness is more than hearing—it can be about language, culture, community, identity, and belonging.

But being Deaf isn’t something to apologize for.
Deaf people don’t need sympathy for being Deaf. They want understanding, respect, and equal access to communication and opportunities. Many Deaf people cherish their identity as a Deaf person and as part of the Deaf community.
Instead of saying, “I’m sorry,” try asking, “How can I communicate with you?”
Let’s work to understand this beautiful, diverse people group and replace apologies with connections. 🤟
