"There’s so much to celebrate here:
bravery and wisdom,
surrender and teamwork,
medicine and healing,
your babies and your big kids.
For all you have endured,
learned,
and grown-to-become…
the celebration is for you."

This has been year's in the making! I've used several versions of this in preparing for birth with clients - now, it's available as a standalone workbook (if you're a birth doula client, you'll get one as part of your package!) This document will walk you through intentional journaling exercises that will help you prepare for birth. Beyond just a checklist of interventions you do or don’t want, you will have the opportunity to identify your philosophy of birth, your communication and learning styles, and questions to get you and your partner practicing comfort measures. With clear directions on how to communicate the answers from your journaling exercise into a clear, easy to read birth preferences document, this tool is what you need to move through your birth preparation. This document will also follow you through to your postpartum period with gentle questions to explore after your birth. All purchases include a free consult with me!
After my traumatic birth in 2016, it felt like the story swallowed me whole. I was just a grain of sand in swirling in an ocean of things I could not control. I told my story over…and over…and over. Each time I told it, it became a shorter version, and things changed. And now, 10 years later - I’m the ocean, and the story is a part of me. Yes I still wish things had gone differently. Yes I hold grief over the things I lost that day. And yet…it’s my story.
Recently, I was telling a version of my birth story to my son. I told him I was really sick, and that I couldn’t be awake when he was born. My version always included the fact that it’s pretty cool that he got to meet his Dad first. His response was: “I think I met you first…because I was born from you.” And now - that’s how I’ll tell my story. I knew him first, because he was born from me. (Suck it, Dad).
How has your birth story changed over time?

I pull a random affirmation card at the end of each class - and 3 out of my last 4 classes was “I am cheerful💐.” So - guess we all needed that one?! Our zoo adventure included jumping like a monkey, balancing like a flamingo, using our breath to watch a feather move through the air, and talking about how Oliver was feeling after a GIRAFFE ate his LOLLIPOP 🍭 (oops should’ve put a spoiler alert!)

My messy house is a reflection of who I am as a person.
My kids make their own dinner sometimes. And it shows.
My kids have access to all the art supplies they could ever need to create, imagine, and send thank you notes
There are Legos on my floor because I refuse to pick them up. I hope my kids will learn to appreciate the value of keeping things where they belong.
There’s a crab apple on my floor. And I’m glad that my kiddo found enough beauty in nature to cherish it.
My house sometimes smells like cats because yeah, we adopted our fosters. (Oops).
My house is full of unkept shoes because we have been the recipient of so many hand me downs, and we are grateful.
My bedroom is full of American Girls (and their accessories) because who am I to deny my kids the pleasure of my favorite childhood toy?
As I plop on the couch, my son’s new tennis racket handle pokes my leg. But I know that’s only because he can’t seem to put it down long enough to find a place to store it.
Stickers stay on mirrors and cabinets and pantries remain stuck, because I actually like the one that says “brave”.
My kitchen is always dirty, Because my family has enough to eat.
There are sticky handprints on our stair railing because my kids leave the table before I can make sure their hands are clean - because I’m enjoying a conversation with my husband.
I’ve tried to adapt the narrative that my messy house is not a reflection of me, but maybe it is - in ways I can appreciate.
