We are singing from the rooftops that Garth Elementary's own veteran music educator Ms. Kellie Moses is now the Elementary School Teacher of the Year for Kentucky. The well-deserved award was presented to this dedicated teacher by the Kentucky Department of Education and it is music to our ears!

The Scott County Board of Education levied a general fund tax of 63.1 cents on real property and 63.1 cents on personal property at a meeting on September 3, 2026.

The approved general fund tax rate of 63.1 cents on real property and 63.1 cents on personal property is expected to produce $53,840,976.81.

The rate is expected to generate more revenue than received in the preceding year. The general areas to which revenue of $4,123,364.92 above 2026 revenue is to be allocated are as follows: Cost of collections, $103,084.12; building fund, $1,489,900.48; instruction, $2,530,380.32.

The general fund tax levied in fiscal year 2026 was 62.9 cents on real property and 62.9 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $49,717,611.89.

This information is published pursuant to KRS 160.470. The proposed tax rate is not subject to recall under KRS 132.017. The General Assembly has required publication of this advertisement and information contained herein.

For anyone still planning to attend the Battle of the Birds football game this evening (8-28-26) at Scott County High School, the parking lot is full as of 6:45pm. All traffic is now being re-routed to park on the campus of Great Crossing High School to take the free shuttle to the game. The first shuttle stop is at the entrance of Birds Nest Stadium off Frankfort Road.

The 2026 Battle of the Birds, brought to you by Centerpoint Health, will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Cardinal Stadium. The Scott County High School Cardinals will host the Great Crossing High School Warhawks. The game starts at 7:30pm with a free community tailgate hosted by Centerpoint Health starting at 5pm.

Please make arrangements to carpool because parking at SCHS will be limited. A site map of the SCHS campus is included below ​and marks the entry point before the start of the game, drop off locations, and parking. Entrance to the SCHS campus will be from Long Lick Road. To control the flow of traffic and prevent back ups on the bypass, the gate at McClelland Circle will be exit only​, except for buses.

Once the SCHS lot is full, guests will be re-routed to park and take the free community shuttle from the Great Crossing High School football stadium. The shuttle from GCHS to SCHS will start at 6:00pm. Catch the shuttle at the GCHS football stadium entrance (Frankfort Road).
