Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation's 42nd gala moves to Point Mallard Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation's annual gala will move to a new venue this year while shifting its focus to celebrating the hospital's progress, including the addition of 31 physicians in

The Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation joins our community in mourning the loss of Dr. Rodney Wayne Harney, whose dedication to medicine and compassionate care touched countless lives throughout Decatur.

Dr. Harney began his family medicine practice in Decatur in 1987 and served patients for nearly four decades before retiring in 2024. Throughout his distinguished career, he built lasting relationships with individuals and families across our community. As a Caddell Grisham Award winner, Dr. Harney was recognized for his contributions, and his commitment to caring for others leaves a lasting legacy in the community he served.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Susan, his children and grandchildren, and all who loved him.

A service celebrating Dr. Harney’s life will be held Friday, October 16, at First Bible Church of Decatur. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m.
