Happy Friday Decatur Package Fam!! 🍻 I truly do not know where to start, it would be absolutely impossible for me to put into words on a post how appreciative, humbled, thankful, honored, (so many more adjectives I could use;) I am to have served you all for 21 years at Decatur Package!!
When you love your job you don’t work a day of your life!! I’ve had so much fun and have met so many incredible people along the way! The days of posting a super great blow-out deal, having 200+ cases of something, posting it, and an hour later it’s sold out! 😛 so fun!!

So this post is to THANK YOU all for the overwhelming, awesome, truly loyal support you’ve given me for 21 years!

Long story short, I received an offer for Decatur Package that I couldn’t refuse. After a handful of weeks of crunching numbers, creating & destroying pros/cons lists (as I’m riding an emotional roller coaster about the decision 😏), I did decide to sell.

The industry is great but has changed quite a bit in the last 20 years. The small mom and pop liquor shops in towns like Decatur are getting swallowed up by box stores, competitive chains, and gas stations.

Once I made the decision to sell, I reached out to all the companies that had given me offers in the past. I received offers from several companies and choose the one that:
-was going to keep the store called “Decatur Package Liquors”
-keep its location and build onto the store
-create a bigger and better Decatur package.

The new owners own multiple stores, so they have the capital to keep the store stocked, improve coolers, etc.

In the contract I also put in that they would sponsor & support some of the local things that I did, within reason. (police department, fire department, Bellmont high school athletics, etc..)
I sponsored too much if you ask my accountants but I feel so blessed that I was able to! ☺️

I negotiated for the new owners to keep my wonderful staff. The new owners have bills to pay too so it had to make sense with shifts/hours/etc…So for the most part you’ll see the same faces in there!

I’ve known the new owners for around 15 years. They are a part of my buying group and have had liquor stores in indiana for decades, and are growing!! For real great people!

This business decision was very bitter sweet and 💯 Personal and emotional for me since I’ve literally grown up at that store 😁 (in the best and worse ways 😛). But at the end of the day it was a business decision and the best one for me to make!

Thanks for reading my novel 🤪 and as far as me and my business future…
I am super excited and feel recharged to run my other 3 awesome locations with the best selection, great prices and the nicest most helpful customer service we can give!! We are here to serve you!!!

If you didn’t know, I own these other 3 stores and will be creating pages for each location!
-Berne Package Liquor
-Monroe Package Liquor

Definitely look for some blow out deals, sampling times, and just what ever new and crazy things come out!!
I’m excited to spend more time and have more capital to invest into these stores!! We want to be the
Chick-fil-A of liquor stores (except we’ll be open on Sundays 😁).

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Truly from the bottom of my heart. You guys are the best!!
I hope to see you all around!! 🍻
Til then, I’m out!! ✌🏼

Stay Thirsty My Friends!! Cheers!!
