At Churchill Grounds we seek out only the most dedicated and talented jazz musicians to help maintain Jazz as a forefront in modern music. Our commitment to this art form is not only to accomplished jazz musicians such as Cedar Walton, Freddie Cole, Loston Harris, Chico Freeman, Donald Harrison, Marcus Printup, Philip Harper and Russell Gunn, but also to its' growth and future by locally searching for the next Wynton Marsalis, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington or Louis Armstrong. 🎷 Tonight is a special one.
Mike Walton has been part of the Churchill Grounds family for well over a decade — from our days at the Fox on Peachtree, to pop-up jam sessions, to Ten ATL, to gracing our Monday night sessions with his presence. He is, in every sense, one of our own.
But here’s something many of you may not know.
Before Sam’s transition, Mike sat down and performed several Coltrane songs just for him at Brew and Bird. It was the kind of performance that stays with you — and it stayed with Sam. He talked about that night for days and weeks after. That moment speaks to everything Mike brings to the stage: soul, intention, and a profound connection to the music.
Tonight, we carry that legacy forward.
We are proud, honored, and genuinely moved to welcome Mike Walton back to the Churchill Grounds stage for two performances — 8PM and 10PM.

Tonight at Churchill, the soulful voice of Cleveland Jones will fill the room and take you on a journey you will not soon forget.
Clevand is well-known in Atlanta but he has toured and worked collaboratively with international acts such as Arrested Development, Big Daddy Kane, and Chaka Khan. Most recently he was featured at the Atlanta Jazz Festival. While his vocal range is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross, tonight audiences will experience the jazz side of this highly talented artist. Cleveland weaves storytelling as part of every show and continues to create music rooted in connection, love, and healing—one song at a time.
