For many flight departments, January planning starts well before January.
October is often when teams begin evaluating workforce needs and comparing options for the year ahead. By November, those conversations may be moving toward agreements and approvals. December becomes the time to confirm availability, schedules, and coverage for the first part of the year.
That is why waiting until January to address a known staffing need can leave far fewer options. If 2027 workforce planning is already underway, Q4 is the time to address anticipated retirements, leave, fleet changes, and hard-to-fill positions.
Our January business aviation crew compensation benchmarks - based on our own placement data rather than survey responses - can also help inform early 2027 planning and may be worth waiting for before finalizing compensation numbers.

We're publishing our pilot bench by aircraft type.
These are pilots whose qualifications and currency have been reviewed and verified. Not simply names in a database. Availability and any additional onboarding requirements are confirmed when an assignment comes in.
We are doing this because the question a director actually asks is never what our overall numbers look like. It's whether we can crew their airplane. Only one of those numbers is useful.
Falcon is next. Tell us which aircraft type you'd like to see.

This one is for the procurement side.
Most corporate supplier diversity targets get missed the same way. Not because nobody is trying, but because the spend gets counted in the categories people think to look at, and aviation is almost never one of them.
Flight departments buy crew staffing, maintenance labor, dispatch support, and payroll services. That is real, recurring spend. At most companies it never gets checked against a diversity target, because it sits inside an operations budget rather than a procurement one.
IFCC has been woman-owned since Jennifer Guthrie founded the company in 2002, and holds WBENC and WSOB certifications.
If your organization has a target and aviation has never been part of the conversation, that is worth ten minutes with whoever owns the number.

One woman’s vision in 2002 has grown into a nationwide aviation workforce partner.
When Jennifer Guthrie founded IFCC, she saw a need in business aviation and set out to solve it. More than two decades later, that same commitment to people, relationships and service continues to shape how we support flight operations across the country.
Today, we’re proud to be a WBENC-Certified Women’s Business Enterprise.
Aviation staffing expertise. Woman-owned leadership. One trusted workforce partner.

Run this against your own roster.
Take your pilot count, remove one for eight days, and walk the schedule forward. Not a sick day. Eight days. Surgery, a family situation, an unexpected medical issue.
Now factor in aircraft qualifications, PIC/SIC requirements, overlapping trips, and scheduled time off. How many viable crew combinations are left?
The number that matters isn’t just how many pilots you have. It’s how much flexibility your roster has when one of them is suddenly unavailable.
How long before a trip has to move?

A flight department is usually one division inside a company that does something else. Which means aviation employment questions land on an HR team with no aviation background, or on a director with no HR background.
Neither of those goes well.
We run payroll, benefits, and compliance for aviation personnel as employer of record. The department stays lean and nobody has to become an expert in something they did not sign up for.
Over 400 flight departments work with us, and most started with a single placement. What kept them was the part nobody markets. The payroll ran correctly, the filings happened, and nobody had to check.

The best part of what we do has always been the people.
Many of the aviation professionals we work with have been with us for years. We know each other. We’ve shared a lot of trips, a lot of conversations and a lot of life along the way.
Yes, we’re here to help you find great opportunities. But we also want you to know there are real people here who know your name, care how you’re doing and are always happy to hear from you.
The work brings us together. The people make it feel like family.

There’s real pressure behind an urgent crew request. Whether it’s a callout, duty rest, or another last-minute need, there’s often a trip riding on finding the right person quickly.
We understand the pressure behind those calls.
That’s why urgency at IFCC has always come with something equally important: reassurance. Listen to what the client needs. Let them know we’re on it. Then roll up our sleeves and find the qualified professional who meets their specific requirements.
The best part is hearing the relief on the other end of the phone when they realize, “Okay. We’re covered."

Ninety days.
That is roughly how long it takes to source, screen, and close a typed and current aviation professional who was not looking for a job when you started.
Most departments begin with thirty. Usually the week after someone gives notice.
The gap is not a process problem. It is a timing problem, and it is the reason so many searches end with a compromise hire that becomes a second search eighteen months later.
The candidates worth having are employed. They are not on job boards and they are not reading your posting. Reaching them takes a relationship that existed before you needed one.
If you have a seat that will open this winter, the useful conversation is now, not in January.
