Yesterday we were joined by Maricopa Community Colleges' leaders, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), and industry partners for the grand opening of the first-of-its-kind Future48 Aerospace and Defense Workforce Accelerator.

Thanks to a $6.4 million investment from the ACA, the state-of-the-art facility will serve as the epicenter for Arizona’s aerospace manufacturing training, supporting nearly 1,000 students annually.

“By learning in spaces that mimic real-world environments, our students become fluent in the areas and skills that our business and industry partners are seeking," said Dr. Steven Bloomberg, Maricopa Community Colleges Chancellor.

This week's Teal Tuesday Spotlight is on Nursing. Pictured from left to right are Ashley Dasta, Rachel Vogel, Jennifer Voss and Michelle Harrington.

Role at CGCC: "We are the Block 1 (NUR152) Skills Lab Team, aka the Block 1 Skills Squad! We get to help our first-semester nursing students take what they’re learning in the classroom and put it into practice! In the skills lab, students learn and practice the hands-on skills they’ll need to safely care for patients, from taking vital signs and completing head-to-toe assessments to giving medications, performing sterile procedures and much more. We teach, demonstrate, coach, encourage, answer approximately 47,534 questions and help our students build the confidence they need before heading into the clinical setting."

What's your favorite spot on campus?
"Engel 101 is our favorite spot on campus! It's our unofficial home base and it's also where we eat lunch, and if there's one thing the Skills Squad loves almost as much as teaching, it's snacks!"

Ready to light up your semester? Join us for a Student Success Mixer where new and returning coyotes can connect, make new friends and kick off the Fall 2026 semester with some serious glow! Come glow with us at our "Glow All Out" in SC140 today between 12 - 2 p.m.
