Medical Assisting students at Fortis College (Dothan) practiced proper cleaning techniques and dressing applications in wound care using training models, building familiarity with just one of the many clinical skills that can be part of the job. 🏥

According to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute, blood cultures are collected first, followed by light blue, serum, green, lavender/pink and gray tubes. 🩸

During training, Fortis Medical Assisting students learn about blood collection procedures, including how these different collection tubes are used and why the order of draw matters.
