Our Aztec athletes spent last night filling sandbags to help our neighbors throughout San Juan County as flooding continues to impact our area.
Their willingness to give their time and serve others is something worth celebrating. We are so proud of these athletes, coaches and families and the way they represent Aztec Municipal Schools!

Hello Aztec Community,
Following this evening’s 6:00 PM Office of Emergency Management/County update, we have received no new information that changes our plans to resume normal school operations tomorrow, Monday, October 26.
We are grateful for the continued coordination and support of our City, County, and emergency management partners as we work together to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community.
We recognize that many of our families are still navigating the impacts of the recent flooding, and our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected. We understand that some families may still be working through cleanup, repairs, and other challenges in the days ahead.
As we reopen our schools, we want our families to know that school is more than a place for learning—it is also a place for connection, care, and support. Our schools are ready to provide students with a safe, welcoming environment, warm meals, caring adults, and access to counseling and additional support services for those who may need them. We hope that returning to school can provide a sense of routine and stability for our students while our community continues to recover.
We also understand that every family’s circumstances are different, and some may need additional time to address the effects of the flooding. Please know that we care about our students and families, and we encourage you to reach out to your school if there are ways we can help support your child during this time.
All AMSD schools, Kinteel dorm, and district facilities will resume normal operations tomorrow, Monday, October 26.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. Our Aztec community is strongest when we come together, care for one another, and extend grace during challenging times. We look forward to welcoming our students back and continuing to support our families as we navigate the days ahead—together.
Thank you,
Aztec Municipal School District
Hello Aztec Community,
We understand that families may have concerns following the recent flooding and weather impacts in our area. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.
We will be attending the upcoming Office of Emergency Management County Update Meeting at 6pm this evening. We will review any new information shared during this update and adjust our plans for normal operations tomorrow as needed. Our findings and final decision will be communicated promptly following the meeting.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue working together to keep our students, staff, and community safe.
Thank you,
Aztec Municipal School District
Hello Aztec Community,
After working with our City partners and reviewing current conditions, our schools will resume normal operations tomorrow, Monday, October 26.
We recognize that many families have been impacted by the recent flooding, and our thoughts are with those facing challenges.
Students walking or biking to school should avoid Riverside Park and other flooded areas, which remain unsafe.
If your family has been impacted and your student may have difficulty attending school, please contact your school so we can work together to provide support and address absences.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back!
Thank you,
Aztec Municipal School District
