7 Strategies for Conflict Resolution in the Workplace 10/13/2026

7 Strategies for Conflict Resolution in the Workplace

1) Be PROACTIVE, not REACTIVE - Anticipate who might give you push back so a disagreement doesn’t blindside you into overreacting.

2) Be Slow to Anger...Especially Over Small Stuff - The heart of conflict is almost always anger. Anger escalates conflict like a tug-of-war, with each side pulling harder. So one of the best conflict resolution strategies is to be slow to anger.

3) Point Out Mistakes Indirectly - If you allow the other person to save face, he or she will be more likely to accept the mistake. A good way to point out the mistake indirectly is to ask questions.
4) Find Common Ground Fast - Remember that people dislike others who disagree with them. So, when you are in a conflict, look for some common ground as soon as possible.
5) Admit when you’re wrong - When a poor leader realizes that he or she is wrong, they will try to cover up the mistake. Good leaders, though, know that to be successful, we will often be more wrong than we are right. You’d be amazed at how often a disagreement can be ended quickly by just apologizing to the person who was wronged. It is really hard to keep fighting with someone who just admitted that you were right and they were wrong.

6) Share your own similar mistake first - Owning a past error before addressing theirs softens the message.

7) Mend fences afterward - Rebuild trust after the conflict so it doesn’t fester and come back.

If you think that these strategies would be helpful for your team, then our leadership program may be a good fit.

Welcome to Hopeful Horizons! Hopeful Horizons is a team-building activity for the ages—literally. The games and challenges in this event help your team discover how different generations in the workplace like to communicate and how each likes to receive coaching.

Why are the generations the way they are? How do they talk to each other? What do boomers know about zoomers, and what do either know about millennials or X? If your team is looking for a fun and funny way to embrace the ages of your group (all while helping teens overlooked by the foster system) then Hopeful Horizons might be the one for you!

Team Trust: Seven Expert Ways to Build Trust in Your Team 10/07/2026

The 7 Best Ways to Build Trust in Your Team

1. Avoid Excessive Criticism - Feedback is necessary and beneficial, but excessive berating builds resentment, and repeated jabs can permanently damage relationships and team culture.

2. Be Less Close-Minded and See Things From Their POV - Putting yourself in their shoes builds empathy and defuses tension.

3. Smile More - Smiles are contagious, but so are frowns. If you're outwardly energetic and hopeful, your expression will set the rest of your team's mood too.

4. Remember and Use Names - Calling someone by their name feels more personal and more meaningful.

5 .Don't Dump Your Problems on your Team - Repeatedly making coworkers fix messes you caused erodes trust.

6. Own Clear Communication - Know how each person listens, and frame instructions around the desired result rather than the task.

7. Listen Well - When someone brings you a problem, ask "What do you think we should do?" instead of jumping in with a fix.

Yesterday, 2 of our top instructors Amy Maybury and Rebecca Rivas went down to the Communications Awards Ceremony in New York City as The Leaders Institute was nominated for Best CSR or ESG Event.

While we did not take home the award, being selected as one of the extremely few considered for it was an honor enough! Thank you so much to those that helped get us here and we'll work our best to continue supplying industry leading CSR events for yet another year!

Last week, leaders in guest services from Great Wolf Lodge locations across the country gathered in LaGrange, Georgia for what they thought was a normal day of software training. What they got instead was a day of fun they'll never, in their entire lives, forget.

After a short bit of team development, building trust and rapport across the group, the 19 leaders broke into 3 teams and set out on a city-wide scavenger hunt, solving riddles and snapping selfies in front of historic city landmarks. From Lafayette square to the chamber of commerce. From gorgeous wall murals to sky-splitting churches. No one knew where the next quest would take them.

Eventually though, it took them to the end, and almost all at the same time. All 3 teams ended with a photo finish, but it was team 1 that edged it out!

Thank you so much Great Wolf Resorts for having your day with us and if you want to combine team development with street hopping adventure, Camaraderie Quest may be for you!

The Key to Remembering Names and Faces 09/17/2026

The Key to Remembering Names and Faces In Four Steps

Step 1: Look and listen. Make a strong mental image of the person and take note of the characteristics that make them unique. Ask the person to repeat their name if you didn’t hear it clearly and find a distinctive feature of theirs to focus on.

Step 2: Repeat the name back to the person. Don’t be weird about this; simply find a natural way to say the name. The easiest way to do this would be something like: “Nice to meet you, [name].” Continue looking at the person as you repeat the name in your mind.

Step 3: Create a mental image. Your brain remembers pictures more than it does words. In most cases, you just need to remember the person's first name. In this case, try to create an image that correlates to the name itself. For example: Mike is holding a microphone; Wendy is walking through a windy city, etc.

Step 4: Exaggerate the picture even more. The brain remembers things that are odd or different. The more detailed you make the mental image, the more likely you are to remember it. An example of this could be with the name Mary. You could picture Mary in a wedding gown. That is likely to work. However, if you picture Mary in a wedding gown crying in her apartment all alone because her fiancé left her at the altar, you will never forget her name. (Keep in mind that Mary didn’t get left at the altar. There is no need to actually feel sorry for her. It is just a good name-remembering technique.)
