The snow stopped and the sun came out for the second and final day of the APA Accounting and Finance Workshop. The day was full of presentations such as Electric Utility Accounting Jeopardy, a day in the life of a lineman, the CEO perspective on leadership and finance, and lots more accounting topics.

We are counting the days until next year's workshop, and we can't wait to do it all again in 2027.

What a wonderful first day for the annual APA Accounting and Finance Workshop! From panels of experts addressing AI in utility accounting, to accounting methods and practices, to some very thought provoking breakout sessions, among many other activities, it was a stellar day of education and networking.

A huge thanks to all our speakers and attendees. Now, on to day two!!!

The ARECA Insurance Exchange (AIE) annual Insurance Workshop was a smashing success!! The workshops helps utility employees better understand the insurance process and reduce risk. Attendees get to learn from industry experts, connect with peers, and gain practical insights that can be applied at work.

Insurance can get sticky, but the AIE Insurance Workshop helps utility professionals be prepared and to go into most any situation with confidence.

The Alaska Power Association Awards Banquet earlier this month was such a great night of honoring those who have made a positive difference in our industry. There are so many wonderful Alaskans who work hard to keep the power on and to continue advancing what is perhaps the most crucial industry in the state.

Kotzebue Electric Association (KEA) got its turn on the regional stage today at the NRECA Regional Meeting in Salt Lake City. Lucy Nelson, general manager of KEA, gave a terrific presentation about the cooperative’s challenges and successes.

It was a great feature of an electric cooperative in Alaska that is doing amazing things to overcome the challenges thrown at it by geography, weather, and market forces far outside its control.

The 75th Alaska Power Association Annual Meeting started out with the APA Director Academy course, a training developed for board members of Alaska electric cooperatives. Andy Leman, APA general counsel, led an afternoon session on the Alaska Electric and Telecom Cooperative Act.
