Jackson County Memorial Hospital is hosting Targets for Tomorrow, a Trap/Skeet/Sporting Clay event on Saturday, September 19 at 9am at the Pryor Shooting Range in Olustee, OK.

Targets for Tomorrow is a fundraiser for the JCMH Women’s Center, our labor and delivery unit. This nursing unit is witness to hundreds of precious births each year. Modern medical equipment has an extreme cost. Our goal is to assist in the update of this vital department in our hospital. Shelley Simmons, JCMH Chief Operations Officer, says “JCMH is excited to announce some impressive news coming soon for women’s health and our labor & delivery department at the hospital. We have been working behind the scenes for months to ensure continued community focus for our tiniest targets and their families. This fundraiser will not only be a great time for team building it will be a great opportunity to show support for our Targets for Tomorrow.”

The 100-Clay Event will be 50 sporting, 25 s***t, and 25 trap targets with individual and team entries and two award classes, Amateur and Competitive. Prizes in both classes will be crafted from BWP Crafts. In addition, the event will have a Wolf Chase with $10 entries and $10 Mulligans.

The exciting news is the purpose for the event; JCMH will be repurposing existing hospital space to relocate the Women’s Center unit. In just a few weeks, this remodeling will begin to take place on the previous 4th floor surgical unit. This fundraiser will benefit the purchase of new equipment to utilize in the new space. In particular, one type of equipment to be purchased are Stryker Bassinets.

Stacey Ford, Co-Nurse Manager of the JCMH Women’s Center says, “Investing in our Women’s Center means investing in the heart of our community. Your support will help fund much needed improvements and updates, creating a more comfortable, and welcoming environment where we can better serve the mothers, babies, and families in our community for years to come.”

Hello everyone,
We have received multiple calls advising people have been walking across the Altus City Reservoir. This is not safe, the ice is too thin and the water is extremely cold and deep. Please advise your family and friends to stay off the water.

In 24°F (-4°C) weather while wet, significant hypothermia can set in within 30 minutes to an hour, and death can occur in 1 to 3 hours or potentially less. The specific time depends heavily on individual factors and conditions.
