Today we had 11 members of the Abbeville County Fire Service complete Emergency Medical Responder Training. These dedicated individuals are now equipped with the vital skills to provide immediate care. In any emergency, every second counts, and the importance of having qualified first responders on-scene quickly cannot be overstated. They are often the first link in the chain of survival.

This achievement is a testament to the seamless collaboration between Abbeville County Emergency Medical Services and Abbeville County Fire Service, proving that when we work together, our community is safer.

Abbeville County EMS had the pleasure of partnering with the Lowndesville Fire Department for a Community CPR class over the weekend!

Big thanks to everyone who joined us. Knowing what to do in those first critical minutes makes all the difference, and we’re proud to serve a community that’s so eager to step up and learn.

🚑🏁 Safety first at the starting line 🏁🚑

Abbeville County EMS has spent the weekend on-site at The Shoals MX track, providing dedicated medical standby coverage for all the riders and families during the Coal Miner’s Championship.

Whether it was a practice day on Friday, or a full race schedule Saturday and Sunday, our team has been committed to keeping the track safe so the riders can focus on what they do best. We love supporting our local community and ensuring that help is always close by whenever it's needed.

🇺🇸Celebrate Safely This Independence Day🇺🇸

As we celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary, let’s make this Fourth of July memorable for all the right reasons. While enjoying time with family and friends, please remember that Abbeville County is under a Heat Advisory, with heat index values expected to exceed 100°F.

Heat Safety🥵
•Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
•Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat.
•Take frequent breaks in the shade or air-conditioned areas.
•Check on older adults, young children, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
•Never leave children or pets unattended in a parked vehicle.

Fireworks Safety🧨
•Do not hold fireworks while lighting them. Follow manufactures recommendation. Do not alter any firework.
•Keep a bucket of water or garden hose nearby.
•Never allow young children to handle fireworks.
•Light one firework at a time and move away quickly.
•Never attempt to relight a firework that fails to ignite.
•Soak used fireworks in water before disposing of them.

Grilling Safety🍔🌭🍗
•Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and dry vegetation.
•Never leave a grill unattended while in use.
•Keep children and pets away from hot grills.

Water Safety🤿🏝️
•Never swim alone.
•Always provide constant supervision for children around water.
•Wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket when boating or participating in water activities.
•Never operate a boat or swim while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Travel Safety🚗
•Always wear your seatbelt.
•Never drive impaired or distracted.
