Villas Hotel - 4* Adults-only in📍 Zanzibar. Like a deep breath, but sunnier. By @attitudehotels l 🌏 B Corp certified
First born outside Mauritius 🇲🇺
We’re Matemwe Attitude, a hotel currently taking shape on the quiet east coast of Zanzibar. Built slowly and thoughtfully, our aim is simple: to offer a place to slow down and reconnect. This is our definition of wellbeing (and of a holiday): no schedules, no expectations, just days that flow naturally, letting each guest decide what feels good. We’re the first hotel outside Mauritius from Attitude Hotels, a Mauritian group, B Corp certifiedfully committed to making a meaningful impact beyond tourism. At Matemwe, that means working with local artisans, choosing regional materials, supporting the island’s economy, and keeping our environmental impact as low as possible. Like every Attitude hotel, we want to create holidays that do good, for those who visit, and for those who make them happen... Not just to fit in, but to belong. And yes, we’re opening in November.

The pitch: direct beach access through lush vegetation, reserved beach area with cabana and sun loungers, a hammock for drifting off to the waves, and a private pool upstairs with a view.
Welcome to our Beachfront Villa.

We couldn't decide which caption we preferred:
The poses you'll be striking from your swim-up villa.
or
The pauses you'll be enjoying in your swim-up villa.
So, we’re leaving both. 😉

Current interiors crush 🤎
Found in local markets, tiny shops and unexpected treasure troves across Zanzibar, the pieces decorating the hotel were chosen one by one.
Making the most of every glimpse of the Indian ocean.
Welcome to your Deluxe Villa, with a partial sea view. 😎

We made the list!
Matemwe Attitude has been ranked #6 among the 100 most beautiful hotels in the world by Hôtel & Lodge magazine. No big deal. Ok, maybe a little big deal. 🙌
Things AI can't do for you: watch a dhow sail past at golden hour, from your Seafront room

Very (very) in love with the Swahili bed - one of East Africa's most iconic craft objects, passed down through generations.
Also the perfect spot for a nap, a good book, or just staring at the horizon. Upstairs in our Seafront and Beachfront villas, if you were wondering. 😊
