Happy World Standards Day. 🌍
Liveness detection, or presentation attack detection (PAD), helps a fingerprint system tell a real finger from an artificial one. But how is it actually tested?
That's what ISO/IEC 30107-3 covers. It doesn't guarantee security on its own. It gives the industry a common way to design a PAD evaluation, document the attacks used, and report the results.
Two metrics sit at the heart of every report:
→ APCER: how often attack presentations are classified as genuine
→ BPCER: how often genuine presentations are classified as attacks
They're best read together, at the same threshold, because tightening one usually moves the other.
If you're planning an identity program, such as national ID enrollment, border control or banking KYC, swipe through for five questions worth asking when you review a PAD test report.
At iMD, we believe clear standards make better identity programs for everyone.

Stolen credentials were the first known way in for 13% of breaches.
They showed up somewhere in 39% of them.
That gap is the story. Attackers don't only use credentials to get through the front door. They collect them along the way and use them to keep moving.
Almost every one of those credentials is a shared secret:
→ A password can be phished, reused, or leaked.
→ A one-time code can be intercepted or relayed in real time.
→ A session token can be stolen and replayed.
Different secrets. Same weakness: possession can become access.
A fingerprint works differently. It isn't typed, sent, or stored in a browser. It is presented at a sensor.
That's where Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) matters. PAD helps distinguish genuine presentations from attacks at the point of capture, including attempts with artificial fingerprints. It doesn't make any biometric unbreakable. It adds a question a stolen secret can't answer: is a real person presenting at the sensor?

A name.
A story.
A dream.
An identity.
Behind every identity is a person with hopes, ambitions, and a future waiting to unfold.
Being recognized is about more than proving who you are. It can mean access to essential services, protection, participation in society, and the confidence to move forward.
This Identity Day, iMD stands with ID4Africa and the global identity community in supporting a future where everyone can be recognized, included, protected, and empowered.
Identity is more than verification.
It is the key to access, protection, and opportunity.
Identity for all.

Your AI agent can now approve payments, access services, and act on your behalf.
But who verified the person behind it?
Most conversations about AI focus on what agents can do. Far fewer focus on the identity underneath.
That matters because every AI-driven action ultimately traces back to a digital identity. And every digital identity traces back to a single enrollment event.
If that enrollment was compromised by a spoof, a lifted fingerprint, or poor capture quality, the trust chain starts with a weak foundation.
This is why biometrics continue to play a critical role in digital identity.
Capture quality. Liveness detection. Enrollment integrity.
Not the most visible parts of an identity program, but often the most important.
Trust starts at the sensor.
What do you think is the bigger challenge today: technology, policy, or governance?
Behind every biometric capture is a person.
A traveler crossing a border. A citizen enrolling for an ID. A worker accessing critical services.
For over 15 years, iMD has been committed to helping people be recognized for who they are with confidence, accuracy, and dignity.
Because identity is not just about security.
It's about belonging, opportunity, and trust.
Our mission is simple:
Enable trusted identity for anyone, anywhere.

Trust starts at the sensor.
Every digital identity begins with enrollment. When capture quality falls short, every authentication, verification, and matching decision that follows inherits that risk.
The FABALIS FAP30 combines high-performance capture, integrated liveness detection, and enterprise-grade encryption in a single enrollment platform.
✔ FBI PIV FIPS 201 certified
✔ MatriXcan™ Technology
✔ Dual liveness detection
✔ AES-256 encryption
✔ Optimized single-finger enrollment at 500 DPI
For solution providers and system integrators, FABALIS is also available as an OEM module, making it simple to embed trusted fingerprint capture into kiosks, enrollment stations, access control systems, and digital identity platforms.
Reliable enrollment. Faster integration. Greater confidence in every identity.
